Some towns tell their history in museums.

Almonte tells it on its walls.

A walk through downtown reveals stories, murals, and reminders of the people who helped shape this community.

It’s one of the reasons we love being here.

Behind the scenes at Café Postino.

Pans are sizzling. Sauces are finishing. Dinner is coming together, one plate at a time.

Just another evening in the kitchen.

The guy who grows it. The guy who cooks it.

Chef Roberto with Alberto from Nature’s Apprentice Farm.

Many of the greens and vegetables that make their way into our kitchen start their journey at in Pakenham, where everything is grown with care and harvested fresh.

We’re lucky to work with people who care as much about good food as we do.

DID YOU KNOW?

Basketball was invented by Dr. James Naismith, who was born and raised right here in the Almonte area.

What started as a simple game created by a small-town Canadian became one of the most popular sports in the world.

Not bad for a community of just a few thousand people.

We’re lucky to call this historic town home.

DID YOU KNOW?

Before it was called Almonte, our town had several different names including Shepherd’s Falls, Shipman’s Mills, Ramsayville, Waterford, and Victoriaville.

The name Almonte wasn’t adopted until the 1850s.

Hard to imagine meeting friends for dinner in “Victoriaville” tonight.

What’s your favourite piece of Almonte history?
