Tonight like many, I write about a Bahamian story that has been told all day about The Hon.Obie Wilcombe, a gentle giant. As I listened intently to the many accolades and notable achievements of Min. Wilcombe, I would be remiss if nothing was said about Culinary Tourism of which he was the pioneer; ensuring that the Bahamian cruisine was creatively displayed and tasted by the World.

Throughout Min. Wilchombe's tenure as Minister of Tourism, he supported and threw his weight behind Culinary Arts in The Bahamas as each fiscal year, he ensured that monies were set aside for Culinary Tourism in MOT budget which included the Annual Culinary Festivals,
Also defraying of travelling expenses for our National Culinary Team to compete internationally in North American Cities like Chicago, Miami and North Carolina .

Min Wilcombes untiring unselfish endearing efforts afforded The Bahamas Culinary Team an opportunity of a life time in 2004. While preparing to attend the Culinary Olympics in Germany, The Bahamas National Culinary Team lacked the necessary funds to cover our $100,000 expenses.

Ms. Donna Williams, a Lecture at the former College of The Bahamas explained our plight to Min. Wilcombe and because of his compassion, he rescinded a decision where a catering job was given to another Caterer to give the job to our Culinary Team to cook the food for the Independence Celebration that year with less than five days before the event. With heartfelt condolences, I would just to thank Min. Wilcombe and The Bahamian Public because this door led to us winning an Olympic Culinary bronze medal. Min. Wilcombe believed in the Bahamian dream. He will be greatly missed. May his soul rest in peace.

Sometimes in life, a reset is needed to adjust focus in the areas that need the most attention, in order to produce something of even greater quality than what was in place before.

After a few weeks of reset, the Manuelo’s family is thrilled to reopen our doors to you, offering all your beloved favorites and more!

We cannot wait to see you TOMORROW, Friday, August 25th, 2023 for our reopening. Together, “lettuce eat fresh!”
