After a particular trying week in this economy, the grinder said “hold my beer” and entered early retirement. Just had it serviced too🤣🤣🤣. Come sit by me and I’ll throw money at you too!
Anywho… I’ve scrambled and found a new grinder, but it might not be until tomorrow afternoon.

So, we have a few options. You can order anything other than coffee, or for twenty dollars, I can let you smell the coffee beans🤣🤣🤣

A go fund me for my sanity is in full swing (it’s not).

Had fun this morning with the Manly Lota Scouts, helping them deliver compost and mulch to customers who ordered through their yearly fundraiser. Thanks to Rob and Anna and all the other volunteers. Big hugs to my offsides, Scout members Aless and Jess for being little legends.

Getting prepped for Gumdale State School pop up shop tomorrow and Thursday. Second time being invited back to this cute as a button school.

The video I made over this garbage I received in the mail today, was too long and full of swear words 🤣🤣🤣
If you’re an author and you are using AI for illustrations and even AI to assist you in writing, you can dump your books in the bin, because it will save me doing so.

If you have a book you have sent me, please know that I will be spending all of my time trying to figure out if you wrote it, if it is illustrated it by a real person and then, more than likely, it will be rejected. Every single bookshop should do the same.

The scourge of AI is making people fearful of discovering new artists, whether it be a singer, a musician, an illustrator, painter, writer, songwriter. We just don’t know what’s real and what’s not and the book publishing world is probably the hardest to detect, because the use of AI writing prompts can go undetected by millions of people. We have even received advanced reading copies of books by some of the biggest publishers in the world, who have used AI images on the front covers. Even our staff won’t read them!!

This “person”, Elowen Finch, is supposedly a Redlands local and the kicker when I asked why she would do this (you bet I called her number) was her response “it’s the way of the future, love!”
I would tag her, but she doesn’t seem to exist. 🤬🤬🤬
Argh!! Anywho. I had a pleasant day. How was yours?

Last night was so special. It was the first time in a long time that we had an author night where we got to chat all things books and the creative process behind writing. It’s something we had always done before Covid. It’s why we created this space. Our Indie Author Nights are just as special, but last night held a special place in my heart because I got to catch up with my friend, Michael Burge and like years before, I got to hear him talk about his book, his writing process, his views on the world and in particular, his experience and reckoning with Gay hate crimes! One line hit everyone hard last night. Michael was talking about all the letters of the Q***r alphabet and said “we will keep adding letters until we get to H for Human, where we can all be equal”. Every person in that room felt that.🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🥰

Thank you To Dominque Schwartz, our special guest interviewer. What an absolute treat to have one the country’s most accomplished journalist, chatting with Michael. Both have forged pathways in the world of journalism and both are simply salt of the earth humans.

Hugs galore to everyone who attended last night. What a special group of humans you all are. I hope you enjoyed your evening as much as I did.
