Okay, there’s a LOT happening on the market front this week.

Kiama is bringing the vintage lovers out with the Kiama Vintage Fair, The Nan Tien Market is serving up a mix of wellness, food and creative stalls, and Albion Park is getting into the Halloween spirit with a whole market day dedicated to spooky season.

Then you’ve got all the regular market goodness happening around the region, with Kiama Farmers’ Market, Markets at Shellharbour, Markets at the Marina, Warrawong and Dapto all in the mix.

And of course, Crown St is doing its thing with both the night markets and daytime markets.

Basically, plenty of reasons to leave a little room in the diary… and probably the boot. 😉

Local job hunting without the giant scroll through roles nowhere near home? We’re very much into it.

There’s a fresh bunch of opportunities sitting on The Fold Illawarra Jobs Board right now, with roles popping up across the region in all sorts of industries.

So, if a new job has been somewhere in the back of your mind lately, have a little look. You never know what might jump out at you.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK // Coast Kids Kei

This might be the cutest shop on wheels we’ve spotted around the Illawarra. 🏖️

Meet the Coast Kids Kei, a 1995 Suzuki Carry that has been transformed into a beach shop by the sisters, Morgan and Mallory, behind Coast Kids. (Yes, the whole thing is ridiculously cute!)

The Japanese truck will be popping up around the coast with beach towels, hats, kites, toys and a few other bits and pieces for those classic beach-day moments when you realise you’ve forgotten something. It happens!

We had to know more about this tiny truck, how it made its way from Japan to Woonona and what the sisters have planned for it next, so we went for a little stickybeak.

Right, who filled the Illawarra calendar for October? Because there is A LOT going on. 👀

We’ve had a proper scroll through what’s coming up and there are festivals, live music, art, markets, theatre, school holiday fun, wildlife adventures and plenty of very good reasons to get out of the house.

There’s Yours & Owls, Daisy Spring Festival, puppy yoga, the Kiama Vintage Fair, a coastal rodeo, creative workshops, theatre for the little ones and plenty more tucked throughout the month.

We’ve rounded up a whole bunch of things happening across the Illawarra, so have a scroll and start making a few plans.

The Illawarra group chat might need a little attention this month

There are plenty of good excuses to make plans, with some very tempting live music nights coming up at Anita’s Theatre, plus plenty more gigs and performances happening around the region. Basically, a few dates worth circling before someone else claims them.

Okay Illawarra, the October long weekend is looking very, very full.

We’ve had a scroll through what’s happening and there are some seriously fun plans to be made.

Yours and Owls is bringing two huge days of live music to Wollongong, Daisy Spring Festival is bringing plenty of colour to Kiama, there are hands-on bee workshops, rainforest adventures, creative days at Bundanon and even a little early Halloween action in Albion Park.

Then there’s Puppy Yoga, the Kiama Vintage Fair, JD Fortune playing the best of INXS, a coastal Scarb-Rodeo and plenty of good reasons to find a long lunch, pack a picnic or simply get out and explore a little more of our own backyard.

Basically, three days off and plenty of ways to fill them.

We’ve pulled together some of the things catching our eye across the Illawarra, so have a scroll, find a few favourites and start making those long weekend plans.

Berry is turning pink again, and we absolutely love seeing the whole town get behind this one. 💗

Pink Up Berry is back for October, with homes, businesses and local organisations getting involved throughout the month to raise money for the McGrath Foundation.

And this community has already done some pretty amazing things. Since Pink Up Berry began in 2019, the local team has raised more than $400,000, helping fund McGrath Cancer Care Nurses who provide free support to people experiencing cancer and their families.

This year, they’re hoping to hit an incredible $500,000 milestone.

There’s a whole calendar of ways to get involved, with movie nights, barefoot bowls, trivia, w**e dinners, race days, luncheons, drag bingo and plenty more happening across Berry and beyond.

Plus, keep an eye out as local businesses get into the pink spirit throughout the month. 🌸

We love seeing Berry come together for something that means so much to the community.

Okay, we may have found a pretty compelling reason to set the alarm for 6am. 🌊

Meet Wollongong’s Sea Gals, a group of women getting together for sunrise swims, silly photos, post-dip coffees and a whole lot of connection around the Illawarra.

What started with one very persistent DM has grown into a community where women can rock up exactly as they are, old bathers, new bathers, nervous first-timers and all. (Honestly, we love this!)

There’s a 3, 2, 1, a dash into the ocean and, apparently, some very good friendships waiting on the other side. The story behind Sea Gals is pretty special too, so we’ve had a chat with the trio behind it all to find out how this little community came to be.

Ohhh, we just love where we live! 💙 The Seacliff Coast is a gorg stretch of coastline packed with stunning beaches, good food, live music, local events and plenty of those little moments that make this place so special. Pretty magical, if you ask us!
