A big shout out of appreciation to the guys that organise Cars & Coffee Wollongong These girls and guys take time out from their weekends to share their passion with us! It’s a great family friendly and professionally put together event. I know the community appreciates everything that goes into it! Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side today but we were still really grateful for everyone that took the time to show up!

Looks like we’re on!!! Now if everyone could get busy with their sun dances that would be great 🌞

Hi Everyone! I wanted to jump online to quickly highlight a concern.

Firstly we have the most amazing customers both locals and people that travel to Port and share this beautiful corner of the world. We absolutely appreciate every single one of them!

We also have an amazing team who love what they do and most of the time really enjoy coming to work hanging out with each other and with our customers.

We won’t always get everything right but we do always care. Our team is made up of great people who work really hard and genuinely want to make sure you have a great experience when you visit the cafe. I’ve also posted previously about how amazing it is to watch some of the younger members of the team grow in experience and confidence.

My job is not only to make sure that our customers have a great experience but that our team always feel safe and comfortable when they come to work. It’s not ok to be rude, abusive or intimidating to any of the team. If we get it wrong talk to us and we’ll fix it. If life is coming down hard on you and you’re having a bad day we’ll try and make your day better if we can …..but I can’t let any of my team feel intimidated or uncomfortable they deserve way better than that.

We are extremely lucky that we rarely have to deal with these situations but even one is too many.

Thanks everyone

Rach x

Some of you may have noticed that we’ve taken ourselves off Uber Eats and the delivery apps. It’s financially tight for just about everyone at the moment and the margin that goes on top of our menu items for delivery just doesn’t sit well with me. Soooo I’ve been doing some work to provide people with options. If you Google Cakes By Rach Cafe you’ll see an “order online” button. That will give everyone an option to order ahead and pick up. Once we have this bedded in we’ll have the ability to reintroduce delivery. The menu prices will be the same as in the Cafe with an added delivery fee….but not the higher cost we’ve seen from the delivery apps to date. The button is live now and we’ll keep you posted on delivery. Rach & team x

Today really got away from me…this post was meant to go out this morning BUT the more I think about it the more it reminds me that we shouldn’t need a particular “day” to ask “R U OK?”

It’s easy to jump on social media and think everyone else’s life is perfect….but none of us get away unscathed!! Everyone has bad days and goes through rough patches. The important thing is to know you’re not alone. So I want to remind everyone that you’re ALWAYS welcome at Cakes By Rach! And you’re always welcome to come in for a chat….most days I can’t get the team to shut up so I know they’re good for a chat!!! It’s ok to say you’re doing it tough and it’s ok to ask for help x
