Proper pub food, local wines and beers, open fires and a sprawling beer garden. The Plough Inn dates back to 1864,it is claimed Ned Kelly had ridden his horse down the main hall of the pub,while that may just be a tale,Ned did work in Tarrawingee and it is said that he and his gang would have a drink or two and would sit on a knotted wooden bench which is still here today(ask to see Neds bench!

Tarrawingee is a community of extraordinary people. Kind, loyal, compassionate people who look out for one another, who stand together when it matters most, and who genuinely care about the place they call home.

What has happened has shaken us all. There is heartbreak, anger and disbelief. But there is also an incredible strength in this little community.

We refuse to let the actions of one person define who we are as Tarrawingee.

We are so much more than this tragedy. We are neighbours, friends and families. We are a community built on kindness, generosity and an unwavering willingness to stand beside one another.

Our hearts remain with Helen and her family, and with everyone whose lives have been forever changed.

This is the Tarrawingee we know. This is the Tarrawingee we love. And this is the Tarrawingee we will stand together to protect. 🧡

Tarrawingee has a pub, a footy club and a CFA, and about 400 people. It also has a resident some people have grown to fear.

This Friday evening, we invite you to join us beneath the evening sky as we take part in the national candlelight vigil for Helen Haines.

Friday 23 October | Gardens open from 7:30 pm

At 8:00 pm, we will light our candles and observe 15 minutes of silence, standing together in love, compassion and unwavering support for Helen and her family.

Please bring a candle or LED candle light.

May every flame remind Helen that she is surrounded by love, and that an entire community stands beside her.

COMING TOGETHER FOR HELEN & OUR COMMUNITY

Our hearts are with Helen Haines and her family following the devastating events of this week.

Like so many across our region, we are shocked and deeply saddened by what has happened.

At times like these, there are no easy words. But there is comfort in coming together, looking after one another and knowing that no one has to face difficult moments alone.

This Friday morning, we warmly invite our community to gather for a quiet cup of tea or coffee, to share a conversation, offer support or simply be together.

INTRODUCING THE PLOUGH HERITAGE COLLECTION

The Plough Heritage Collection is a curation of pieces that reflects the heritage and character of this old Inn, and carries a little bit of it wherever they go.

Woollen hats • caps • tees • tote bags • branded glassware • picnic rugs • leather key rings

The Plough Heritage Collection will make its debut at the Plough Inn Christmas Market here in Tarrawingee on Sunday 6th December.

After the market, the Heritage Collection will be available for purchase through the website and here at The Plough.

Spring has sprung at The Plough.

The wisteria and the fruit trees around our historic inn are out in bloom.

Quince • citrus • apples • pomegranates • mulberries • olives

The care these trees get now is what gives us the very best fruit later in the season. Once it’s ready, it will be carefully picked and taken to the kitchen, where it will be turned into something a little bit magical for our menu.

We look forward to sharing it with you.

IT’S OFFICIAL!

The Plough Inn Seasonal Markets are coming to Tarrawingee.

Beginning this December, the grounds of our historic inn will come alive with regional makers, growers, producers, craftspeople and artisans from across Victoria’s High Country, alongside live music and food and drinks from The Plough.

First up, our Christmas Market.

Sunday 6 December 2026
2pm–7pm

A chance to get your Christmas shopping sorted and discover locally grown, made and crafted goods from across our region.

And this is just the beginning.
