Hanging with the sheepies. Muffin and Tiggy didn’t think I was patting them enough so they decided to solve the problem themselves. Fingers crossed Muffin is having babies in a few months ❤️

Lowood show done. It was so nice to see lots of silkies there - there was about 20 entered, which is great for a country show.

We got:
1st place large Softfeather Exhibition Pair
1st place large Softfeather Pair of Pullets
1st Place White Pullet
1st place White C**k
1st place AOC hen
2nd place white cockerel

I ran into some ex Fluffybums there and got beaten by their new mums 😂 Congrats to:
- Penny got champion silkie and 1st place white hen with ex fluffybum Daisy
- Ruby beat me to 1st place white silkie cockerel with ex Fluffybum Topsy
- Bianca won AOC cockerel with her ex Fluffybum splash boy

I also spent my prize money on the best churros ever and a very average hot dog 😂

We are taking a break from showing until the end of July, so I can catch up on life and stop washing chickens.

Did you know that you can tell if your eggs are fertilised or not without incubating them?

If you were wanting to gauge fertility rates but perhaps don’t have an incubator, you can simple crack some eggs and check the blastoderm (the white dot in your yolk).

A fertile egg should look like a bullseye with a clear circle surrounding it. An infertile egg will just have the dot.

Not my picture but eggs below - bottom left is not fertilised, eggs on the right are fertilised 🙂

Poor little Pumpkin is losing all her wool after almost dying from barbers pole worm / anaemia. So glad she pulled through but it shows how much it affected her body.
