While we have our "mini" version of the counts ruins cake on the menu (some people argue they are not mini at all), we also do the full-size cakes. This one was for 10 people.

A traditional Central Asian dish with a popularity across Eastern Europe that can’t be overstated. It’s hard to find a dish in Australia with the same level of popularity and following that Plov has across Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

This Friday, 25.09, we’re serving a special Uzbek Plov (or do you call it Osh or palov) for lunch & dinner at Compass Menu.

Tender lamb, fragrant rice, carrots, onions, barberries and spices, slowly cooked together until rich, aromatic, and full of flavour.

Have you ever tried real borscht?

Borscht is much more than just beetroot soup.

It’s a rich, hearty soup with countless regional and family variations across Eastern Europe: Russia, Poland, Baltic states... In Ukraine, there are probably as many recipes as there are families — each with their own way of making it.

For many people, the smell of borscht cooking at home is simply the smell of comfort.

Made the homestyle way — with fresh chicken stock, cabbage, potato, carrot, onion, tomatoes, and of course, beetroot, slowly simmered with tender chicken, then finished with fresh dill and a generous spoonful of sour cream.

And don't forget garlic bread on the side.

It’s not fancy food.

It’s the kind of food you sit down to with a big bowl in front of you and feel at home. ❤️

And if you're on the Sunshine Coast, you don't come across traditional borscht very often.
