Last night we had a small celebration with our usual Friday night crew to mark 25 years since taking on the Stanley Hotel.
It was a lovely way to celebrate with so many familiar faces who have been part of the journey over the years.
We'd also like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has commented, shared memories and sent their congratulations. Reading your kind words has been incredibly humbling and a wonderful reminder of how many amazing people have been part of the Stanley Hotel story.

All prizes last night included a $25 voucher to celebrate and shout out to Joe our bar manager was the mystery prize winner who graciously handed his prize over for all to share!

On 1 August 2001, we became the proud owners of the Stanley Hotel.

We didn't simply buy a Hotel, we took on the care of a Stanley landmark that had already been welcoming locals and travellers for more than 150 years.

Over the past 25 years, we've poured an enormous amount of hard work, determination, and heart into the Hotel. Along the way there have been renovations, changing menus, countless raffles, community fundraisers, weddings, birthdays, staff parties, Friday-night catch-ups and more meals and cold drinks served than we could possibly count.

There have also been some memorable milestones - from MasterChef and Stanley's Hollywood moment during the filming of The Light Between Oceans, to being named Australia's best regional Hotel and receiving state and national recognition for hospitality and tourism.

But the most important part of the past 25 years has always been the people.

To every staff member who has worked alongside us, every local who has supported us, every visitor who has walked through our doors, and every supplier, friend and family member who has been part of the journey - thank you.

A building can hold nearly 180 years of history, but it is the people, conversations, celebrations and memories inside it that make it a pub.

We are incredibly proud to see Stanley named the 2026 People’s Choice winner in Tassie’s Top Tourist Town Awards.

This recognition belongs to everyone who helps make Stanley the special place it is, our local businesses, volunteers, community groups, residents and the many people who warmly welcome visitors to our town.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote, and congratulations to the entire Stanley community. What a wonderful result for our little town!

Thank you for getting behind our little pub in Stanley!

Tasmanians are being invited to nominate their favourite pubs, cafes, bottle shops and live music venues for the Pulse Tasmania and Hospitality Tasmania People's Choice Award.

Nominations are open across five categories: Best Pub, Best Bottle Shop, Best Breakfast, Best Coffee and Best Live Music.

Steve Old, CEO of Hospitality Tasmania said the awards give locals a chance to back the venues and businesses they love most, from neighbourhood pubs to tucked-away cafes.

Voting opens on August 1, winners will be announced from September 25 to 29 and celebrations will finish at Mac02 on September 30 Tickets for the event can be purchased at https://bit.ly/HTawards26.

We had such a lovely Sunday afternoon of Irish music at the Stanley Hotel.

A big thank you to the Tasmanian Session Players for sharing their music with us, and to everyone who came along and enjoyed the afternoon by the fire.

We were very grateful to have them play for us and hope everyone enjoyed the afternoon.

Sunday Session at the Stanley Hotel

We’re lucky enough to have the Tasmanian Session Players staying in Stanley this weekend, and they’ll be joining us for a casual afternoon of Irish music this Sunday, 26 July, from around 2pm onwards.

Settle in by the fire, enjoy the music and make an afternoon of it. Come for lunch, stay for a drink and enjoy a relaxed Sunday session at the pub.
