I would like to take this opportunity to thank, not only to my wonderful girls: Kirsten, Tash, Vicki, Lillian, Sienna, Claire, Pagen and Beth - who have helped me through a rather strained time in my life. My girls and guys that have been before.

But, to thank all who walked through DeliCate Gourmet Foods doors over the last 12 years. If you came every day - thank you, if you came once - thank you. You all are what made DeliCate Gourmet Foods a success.

I realised my dream on 2 November - Melbourne Cup Day 2010, when DeliCate Gourmet Foods opened it’s doors.

I did not want to die wishing I had explored Delicate Gourmet Foods.

Wow, what a journey! From my first customer - a defence force guy heading east - to my last customer - the beautiful Mrs A. I have had a blast.

I feel a bit torn at the moment, not wanting to go back now it is closed for me, but realising I will not make another Cre8ive coffee, not make another scone or cheesecake or quiche or Warm Pumpkin Salad - I will stop there.

I hope that you will all support Susie Higgins who bought DeliCate Gourmet Foods, and who is embarking on her own culinary journey.

Lastly, to my beautiful family, thank you for your patience and belief.

Come along from 10:30am today and celebrate 12 years of DeliCate Gourmet Foods! Take the chance to say goodbye to the heart and soul of our little shop, Claire. She’s been such an inspiration and role model over the years. Always taking care of the gourmet food needs of St George and putting a creative spin on it. She’ll be greatly missed by all of us and we wish her all the best in her future adventures to come.
