From pasture to wildlife, sustainability is a full-island commitment. Just next door to us, Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary control feral cats and give Tasmania’s native animals a fighting chance. Learn more about the initiative here:
In the last 12 months, our Feline Fix program desexed 230 female cats, preventing the birth of up to 9,200 first generation kittens, approximately half of which could have gone on to have kittens of their own!
In dollar terms, based on an average cost for a single domestic or shelter-based cat sitting at $1,000 a year (~$600–$800 for food and ~$200–$234 for basic preventative veterinary care), thats a saving of up to $9.2 million!
So it's clear to see: desexing cats isn't just good for the environment, it's good for the community as a whole.
