Due to an incident at the café today, we will be closed tomorrow, Saturday 3rd

Today, one of our team members was assaulted while at work. Thankfully, they are okay, but it has understandably been a very upsetting experience for them and for our entire team.

We want to be very clear: we do not tolerate violence, intimidation or abusive behaviour towards our staff. Ever.

The behaviour was deeply upsetting, completely unacceptable and very unprofessional. What makes this particularly disappointing is that the person involved is connected to a business we have a professional relationship with and support as a local supplier.

We choose to support local businesses because we believe in our community and in treating people with respect. That is why it is especially disappointing when that same respect is not extended to our team.

No disagreement, frustration or circumstance gives anyone the right to put their hands on another person.

We have decided to close tomorrow to give our team some time to regroup and to make sure everyone feels comfortable and supported before we reopen.

We won’t be naming individuals or businesses. This isn’t about creating a public spectacle, it’s about making our position very clear.

Our team deserves respect. Our team deserves to feel safe. And we will always stand behind them.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our little café and, most importantly, the people who work in it. ❤️

☕️ WE’RE HIRING — EXPERIENCED BARISTA / FOH ☕️

We’re looking for an experienced Barista / Front of House superstar to join the team at Chinos.

This is not an entry-level position - previous barista experience is absolutely essential. We need someone who can confidently step behind the machine and hit the ground running.

We’re looking for someone who:
☕️ Has solid barista experience and knows their way around a busy coffee machine
🤝 Is confident and friendly with customers
⚡️ Can work efficiently under pressure during busy periods
🧼 Takes pride in keeping their station clean and organised
🍳 Is comfortable working as part of a busy FOH team
😊 Has a great attitude and genuinely enjoys hospitality
⏰ Is reliable, punctual and available for a mix of shifts

The role will include barista work, taking orders, serving customers, running food, clearing tables and general FOH duties.

If you’re an experienced barista who loves good coffee, good people and a busy café environment, we’d love to hear from you!

Just a heads up to all our customers, Chinos will be CLOSED this Sunday.

One of our favourite humans is having a birthday, and we’re swapping coffee machines for cake and celebrations. 🎂🥂

Just made from scratch, exactly how it should be.

🌭Even the little wieners know a good hot dog.

We love catching up with our regulars, and they certainly know a good hot dog when they taste one… even the four-legged ones 🐶

This little legend stopped by for a visit, and we couldn’t resist. Around here it’s all about good food, good coffee, and good company (whether you’ve got two legs or four).

🥧 PIE OF THE WEEK IS BACK! 🥧

Cold weather calls for proper comfort food… and this week we’ve delivered.

Our Shepherd’s Pie is filled with slow-cooked local lamb in a rich, hearty gravy with vegetables and herbs, then topped with creamy mashed potato and finished with a little parmesan for that golden, crispy finish.

Made fresh in-house daily and baked until perfectly golden. It’s everything you want on a chilly Port Lincoln day.

Available all week until sold out – because these never stick around for long. 😉

We were going to post a photo of today’s soup🍲
…but by the time we got around to it, this was all that was left. 😅

Truth is, we’ve been flat out making fresh batches every day just to keep up with how quickly it’s been selling. We haven’t even had time to take a decent photo!

If you’ve been thinking about grabbing a bowl, don’t leave it too late - we’re cooking more daily, but once it’s gone, it’s gone.
