A PERSONAL DIARY ENTRY OF YEAR ONE AT THE BANKSIA TREE ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ““ Entry 1:
Dear diary,
Today we opened the cafe.
Halie is 20 weeks pregnant, the fryer died almost immediately, and somehow our only laptop ended up completely soaked in water. We genuinely sat there wondering how we were supposed to keep going already.
Then somehow, almost like Dad had planned it himself, we received enough from his inheritance to replace the fryer and the laptop.
Still not entirely sure how the timing of that happened.
What a day one.

๐Ÿ““Entry 2:
Dear diary,
Weโ€™ve been open a few months now and our little mate Jasper has arrived.
Heโ€™s currently not pulling his weight on the cafe floor yet, but weโ€™re willing to give him a few more weeks before we start performance management.
Surely heโ€™ll be carrying plates and making coffees soon.

๐Ÿ““Entry 3:
Dear diary,
Weโ€™re getting close to our first birthday and now something called โ€œCOVIDโ€ has entered all of our lives.
Honestly? Nervous doesnโ€™t even cover it.
But at the same time, weโ€™ve never felt more grateful for the community around us. People showing up for each other, supporting local, checking in, adapting together.
Weโ€™ve started doing dinners, groceries, takeawayโ€ฆ basically whatever it takes.
No idea what happens next, but weโ€™re still here.

Happy first birthday to us!

We loved the XO Crab. We really did. But then we got a little spicy and asked ourselves: "What if we could give our seafood obsessed Port Adelaide crew MORE meat?"
