MÖRK MARKET, QUEEN VICTORIA MARKET
The moment we became a trader at Australia’s largest owner operated market, life changed.
When we opened Mörk in the Dairy Produce Hall, it truly felt like we were becoming a small part of something much bigger than ourselves.
This is a place with generations of history. A place where people have come to shop, eat, trade and meet for more than a century. Where traders know their regulars by name, where local producers matter and are celebrated, a place of family traditions and habits.
For us, it was also a chance to bring Mörk to a new audience.
Instead of people coming specifically to our Mörk store, suddenly we were part of their Saturday morning shop. Their walk through the market. Their weekly ritual.
As Josefin and I got to know the early morning energy, the midday peak, the afternoon lull, we got to know the faces and voices of the market. It is made up of people, of family businesses and new venturers, all adding to the evolving energy of this place.
It feels very Melbourne.
Busy, slightly chaotic, full of characters and surrounded by some incredible independent food businesses.
And somewhere amongst all of that, we founded our new little piece of Mörk.
