📝Pledge to stand with our Small Business Economy 🧍💰

Business Derwent Valley invites candidates for upcoming Derwent Valley Council election to sign the Small Business Pledge.

A strong small-business economy supports local jobs, services, community life, innovation and visitors. This pledge is not about pre-judging Council decisions or promising outcomes. It is a commitment to use proper Council processes to investigate issues, consider evidence, advocate constructively and bring practical results.

The Derwent Valley has over 500 small businesses.

Council decisions — on procedures, legal obligations, and budgets — directly impact local families, businesses, and the economy. Positive outcomes shape business confidence and investment.

In the coming days, we will share practical actionable ideas for how elected councillors can give this pledge effect. It is time for words to have meaning - and for actions to speak louder.

🔍 Before taking a public position, candidates should read the pledge we have sent them today. Pre-judging it without the evidence is not the critical thinking the Derwent Valley should expect.

👉 Show the Derwent Valley small business community you stand with them.
