🎉☕️ Thursday Storytell — Birthday Edition
Today’s Storytell Thursday comes with a little extra sparkle — because it also happens to be Julie’s birthday. The woman who fuels half the town, remembers everyone’s order, and somehow keeps Commons running with equal parts caffeine, chaos, control and calm.
Thursday storytell with the publican Lahna from The Tattersalls Hotel
1. What’s the moment your day officially starts — the first sip of your Commons coffee or unlocking the doors at the Tatts?
The doors to my favourite circus — that’s when the day officially kicks off.
2. You run a pub… so why is a Campos coffee from Commons the one thing you won’t compromise on?
Because it fuels my fire to run my circus, which I love.
3. What’s your go‑to order, and what does it say about your personality?
Flat white. I like to think that reflects myself before my coffee.
4. How does that morning stop at Commons set you up for the chaos, characters, and curveballs of running the Tatts?
My morning debrief is ordering my coffee and having a chat to Jules. She knows what’s up. Don’t think I could get through the day without her — or my coffee.
5. If you had to describe Commons in one word — the vibe, the people, the coffee — what would it be?
Cheeky.
6. If Julie ever let you behind the machine, what kind of barista would you be — calm and collected or absolute mayhem?
I’d give it a red‑hot crack. Everyone would end up with a flat white… but hey, that’s why I sling beers for a living.
7. What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about your daily routine between Commons and the Tatts?
Some days it takes me half an hour to get back to the pub depending on who’s walking down the street. The real entertainment is me trying not to wear my coffee while opening the door and politely saying goodbye to the have‑a‑chats.
8. And finally… it’s Julie’s birthday today — what’s one thing you’d love to say to the woman who fuels your mornings?
A massive thank you for pouring light into my day — every day. My soul and my coffee. Thanks Jules for being you. Happy Birthday 🤍
