Hi to all our wonderful customers,

This month, we celebrate 10 years of The Avenue Inn, and we cannot thank you enough for being part of our journey!

As a small family-run business, we are so grateful to Naracoorte for backing us all of this time, and we are excited to keep serving you. With this in mind, we do also want to spend more time with our young family.

To make this happen, we are making some changes to our hours. Breakfasts have not been working for us, so we are focusing on doing fewer things really well. Cameron, our chef and my husband, also has a new opportunity that gives our family a better balance between home and business.

Our new hours:

Motel reception
Weekdays: 9am - 8pm
Weekends: 9am - 6pm

Restaurant
Wednesday to Friday: dinner 6pm - 8pm (bookings preferred)

Unfortunately, we will no longer be able to offer breakfast by booking, on weekdays or weekends.

Planning an event or your staff Christmas party? YES, we can cater for you! Get in touch to check available dates and we will make it a night to remember. Weekend daytime events are welcome as well.

Some exciting news from the team at The Avenue Inn: we've been named a finalist in the 2026 South Australian Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence, in the Contemporary Australian Restaurant - Informal category.

We won this award last year, and being back as a finalist means just as much. It's a reflection of the work our whole team puts in every service, and the support of our guests, suppliers and community who make it possible.

A bit of a long post coming up, so here's the practical bit first: breakfast is now bookings only, 8:00-10:00 am Tue-Sun. Call 08 8743 4374 by 8:00 pm the night before to book - elsewise you'll get me (Alex) who does not cook. I can pull a mean coffee but Cam's the actual chef.
So here is a brief rundown of why we've put dinner front and centre now, since the café was a big part of what people knew us for.
A few things lined up at once. Late last year, we took out the 2025 SA award for Contemporary Australian (Informal) at the R&CA Hostplus Awards - so we received unequivocal confirmation that dinners were working. Then, at our Christmas show last year we farewelled three of our longest-serving team members - our whole coffee crew in one go, all heading off in different directions.
Theresa was with us for half a decade and is sincerely missed by our entire family. As for Misia and Ferishta, we were fortunate to witness them over the years develop into confident young women who are now heading out to the world and we couldn't be prouder of them.
All of this is a long winded way to explain that while we miss them dearly, the world has a way of leading you somewhere - in our case, that somewhere is deeper into dinner service and events.
One last little bit. Thank you to our regulars who've kept eating with us, the locals who've sent friends our way, the visitors who've come back twice. Naracoorte's home, we love it, and we're staying put - it's just that dinner is pretty much the whole show now, so catch us Wed to Sat nights, 5:30-8:00 pm.

Hey guys, it's been a little bit. Sorry for the radio silence - all of a sudden it's end of autumn and I've made two posts all year - one in Jan, one in Feb. Haha.
The motel's been packed straight through, Cam's been running dinner four nights with three small boys underfoot, and something had to give for a minute. That something was Facebook/Instagram.
Now things are easing into the quieter season I'm catching my breath, which naturally means we've started a handful of projects, because we cannot keep still you see. The citrus trees and star jasmin have really taken off, so we're extending the garden beds over the next couple of weeks - more yield, less grass fighting them for it. Also touched up the front door, painting wise. And with the dining room free during the day we've been doing more events, both there and in the boardroom (the old function room, we've renamed it).
Here's where things land:
Dinner Wed-Sat, 5:30-8pm. Book on 08 8743 4374 or walk in.
Breakfast Tue-Sun, 8-10am, bookings only - lock it in the night before.
Lunches we've put down for now to put everything into dinner.
