In the mid-1950s, Hup Heng Restaurant was founded on our grandfather’s love and passion for Malaysian cuisine. Aside from having intricately crafted handmade goods, Jonker Street is also synonymous with its delicious street food! From deep fried Ice-Cream to Gula Melaka Cendol or even Hainan Chicken Rice to mouth watering Nyona Foods. It’s no surprise that our grandfather loved to cook up a storm
every time the family got together. After realising the business opportunities available in Kuala Lumpur, our grandfather decided to introduce some of his creations to a brand new 'family'. In the early ‘80s, his youngest son, Kingston Tan and his wife, Queenie Lee opened their Chinatown Pavillion Restaurant in Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur. Over the years, they have served authentic Malaysian flavours to the local community as well as foreign tourists. They have created even more delicious recipes to share with all of their customers. Fast forward to today, Kingston Tan passed down his expertise to his two sons, Marvin and James. Together, they started Jonker Street Restaurant right here in Melbourne. We want to introduce and provide delicious, traditional Malaysian dishes to all Melbournians, young or old. Whether you’re craving for some of our flavourful Curry Laksa or our Signature Yam Ring - Jonker Street has what you’re looking for.
