Alyogyne huegelii 'West Coast Gem' is unapologetically, outrageously, absolutely wonderfully Extroverted plus... it grows just about anywhere and it's inexhaustibly always in flower.

A ground-hugging, gaps-between-pavers filling, yoga butterfly balancing, layering plant with white, light or dark blue flowers. Sun or shade. Loves moisture but happy with drier conditions once it establishes. It's Pratia (Lobelia) pedunculata.
OPTION: Grow some in a shallow tray, then once it's spread, cut it like a lemon slice and pop the pieces between pavers or rocks. Available in pots and in a tube if you're quick.

Did you know that there are more than 150 boronia species and that's not counting the many hybrids and cultivars? Did you also know that many of the boronias that are in cultivation are quite easy to grow?
One of our favourites is the beautiful Boronia pinnata. A medium shrub, it has pinnate, aromatic foliage, decorative buds and large flowers that are pure heaven and it will grow happily under established trees. Oh, it's a great cut flower.

It would appear that even plants are spending time on the tanning bed in pursuit of that distinctive Presidential glow and we happily concede that Acacia fimbriata 'Crimson Blush' looks rather good as a result.
A relatively new introduction, but not surprisingly, it appears to be adaptable; Acacia fimbriata in its varying forms is a hardy species. This selection has a wonderfully dense habit and responds beautifully to pruning and shaping. A sunny position brings out the new growth, but filtered sun is fine.

Epacris impressa Bega Orange is arguably the easiest Epacris impressa form to grow and it is certainly the longest flowering with blooms appearing off, but mostly on, for about nine months of the year.
The fact that the flowers are ORANGE just adds to its appeal. Kuranga has been growing this form for years but confusion reigned when a pink form popped up in nurseries, labelled as 'Bega' but not! So... we have the genuine form available at the moment. No stampeding. Keep it nice!

Statistically speaking, yellow is said to be the least favourite flower colour. Pshaw!!!!! Vince (Van G) would have loved and probably painted the bright yellow flowers and bronze foliage of the lightly climbing/scrambling Hibbertia dentata! What would the title of the painting be? Certainly not 'Sunflowers'.

While most grevilleas are typically wildly colourful and unapologetically extroverted party animals, the Compact Form of Grevillea linearifolia channels a Zen vibe and we suspect this miniature groundcover quietly meditates daily.

Tiny, velvety, grey leaves are white on the underside. The habit is dense and mounding. The buds and new growth are bronze, the flowers are small, white, lace-like and perfectly beautiful.

This is one for a container where it can mound and cascade, or plant it in a rockery near some garden steps, where you can appreciate its lovely form and flowers.

(There are many naturally occurring forms of Grevillea linearifolia in cultivation that are very different in form and foliage, including some medium shrub forms with a wispy, weeping habit as well as some upright, larger shrubs, so make sure you head for our Groundcover Section to find the form described here).

In its nursery pot it doesn't look particularly special, but believe us when we say, once in the garden or container, it is the sweetest little plant.

It's happy in a range of soils including sandy or heavier soils and tolerates some coastal exposure. Full to filtered sun is fine. In the garden, expect a height of 30 cm or so and a width of 60 cm or so.
Yes, little birds love it, as do we.
