At my first South Geelong Farmer’s Market, I boldly took 400 pierogi . The main varieties sold out by 10:30am-ish and the vegan ones sold out just after 11am (mostly bought by non-vegans). While market sales are always unknown (nothing is guaranteed)- tomorrow I’m boldly going forward with 500 pierogi plus 120 in pre-sale orders and litres of Borscht too. Will it all sell? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Unsold frozen pierogi is just taken home and sold another time. Tomorrow (for the first time) I’ll be offering cold take-home soup as well as hot soup - If it’s not in demand, I’ll just freeze it at home for us, we love Borscht on standby! At the end of every market - I love reflecting on the community connection. While we all work for money, I’m energised by my market stall which brings that human connection and makes my heart happy. It’s a high ! At any market though, I quietly get anxious when customers have to wait for their pierogi. I still have Lara Market fun facts to post & share which I haven’t had time to post - but it includes a story about a sudden rush of demand for Potato & Farmer’s Cheese pierogi (last Sunday). Good problems to have! I personally take your orders as well as plate all of the orders. I go as fast as I can while doing the best job I can. I now have a name ticket system (you might be Goldie Hawn or Sylvester Stallone for example). It puts smiles and laughs on faces - and saves people telling me their name. I used to write customer descriptions with each order “Lavender jumper, big glasses” or “Man with cap and baby”.

If you’ve read this far can I offer you something in exchange for a photo? A photo of Pierogi Darling customers from behind at my stall. It’s a view I don’t get to photograph myself- ie. customers being served.. the queue (if there is one). Show it to me (send it to me) on your phone & I’ll throw in an extra pierogi with your order. Third person to do this will get a bottle of my Worcestershire Sauce (value $25). Easter Sunday was a sellout (my first time at South Geelong Farmer’s Market) - and tomorrow the Pierogi will be back again in South Geelong! Everything made from scratch by me, lots of boiled Pierogi (you can opt to have them pan-fried). They come with complimentary sour cream, chives, dill and tomorrow also a pickle spear! I’ll also be bringing classic Borscht ($8 a cup with sour scream & herbs). Optional add-ons include pan-fried Polish Sausage coins, Sauerkraut, Kimchi and tomorrow only there’ll also be a Balkan fav’ “Ajvar”, hot or mild. Looking forward to serving you. 🫶🏻🥟🧡😊

THANK YOU for the frozen pierogi orders! ☺️ 🙏🥹🥟 With 500 pierogi as my Sunday target plus an extra 10 dozen frozen pre-orders on top of that.. I’m hoping I can get it all done in time (Borscht included)!
I’m a one-woman pierogi factory (no helpers) with other responsibilities behind the scenes - so this will be my biggest pierogi challenge yet.

Every market, I have customers buying frozen Pierogi - but just so you know, you can pre-order your frozen pierogi for market pick-up. Just DM me, pre-pay & you won't miss out. So far I have 72 frozen pierogi pre-ordered for this Sunday's Market in South Geelong.

The pre-ordering (Old School Kitchen) frozen price is 12 for $35 which I don't offer at the market. At the market it's 4 for $14, 6 for $19 & 10 for $30.

SIDES and CONDIMENTS. I love them! So this Sunday, alongside Pan-fried Polish Sausage coins, Sauerkraut & Kimchi, I’ll be trialling $2 dollops of Ajvar (a Balkan relish made with charred red capsicums, eggplant, garlic etc MILD or HOT, I’ll have both). Plus complimentary Pickle Spears will be available too for all Pierogi orders. 😊

I don’t always have them, but this Sunday at South Geelong Farmers Market I’ll be asking all Pierogi customers “Are you ok with sour cream, chives, dill & a pickle?” My complimentary toppings will again include a Dill Pickle spear! There’s optional add-ons like pan-fried Polish Sausage coins, Sauerkraut & Kimchi - AND I’ll be trialling dollops of AJVAR too (mild and hot)! Not that my Pierogi need any added flavour, but some of us LOVE our condiments! Hope to see you on Sunday! 🙏🫶🏻🥟🧡

First time trading at Lara Community Market - I went with no expectations because I had no idea if anyone would want Pierogi & Borscht in Lara & evidently people do 🧡☺️🥹🥟🙏 It was a brisk Brrrrr 🥶 morning but the winter weather was perfect. Sun 🌞 with no wind or rain. Thank you Lara Market customers for buying everything I had apart from 2 cups of Borscht (which was polished off after the market) xx PS Hoping to come back next month & thank you to all the stallholders I touched base with, whether it was 2 minutes or 20 seconds - you’re a nice lot & I appreciate it! 🧡🥟
