Yaama Ganu Gallery & Cafe Gali Yaama Ganu Gallery The centre is the first of its kind in NSW and opened on the 27th of January this year.

The Yaama Ganu Centre houses an Aboriginal Art Gallery and cafe and is a joint funded venture between the Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES) and the Indigenous Land Council (ILC). One of the primary purposes of the centre is to tackle the Indigenous Employment issues in the town of Moree and currently and has been a huge success. The centre is managed by Sascha Estens, daughter of Dick Estens, the founder of the AES and Toby Osmond a restauranteur from Sydney who is well known for his exclusive restaurants and bars known as Will & Toby's. The cafe staff are an all Indigenous team and the cafe is open 7 days and for functions also. "The centre's already provided a full tourist experience for passing travellers, and a fresh new face for the foodie scene for locals."

A survey of works from internationally recognised Tjukurla artist Bob Gibson.

In image (from left) are examples of the artist’s work from 2018, 2021 and a brand new offering from 2026. Interesting to observe how the artist has played with colour, form and application in his practice over this period.

To collectors and art lovers, interest in Bob’s work has proven incredibly consistent in our time at the gallery. Many still leaning to the earlier raw abstraction, which were so exciting for the time. His more recent patterned work perhaps more accessible to a broader audience.

Kungkarrangkalpa 💫

‘The Seven Sisters, or Kungkarrangkalpa, Creation story is of great significance to the Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara people.

The Sisters travelled long ago through the Artist’s traditional country in NW South Australia, as well as through the SW corner of the Northern Territory. Chasing after them was Wati Niru, a trickster man who wanted to court one of them.

Using all kinds of trickery, he relentlessly persued them, though they always managed to stay one step ahead through the skill of the eldest. The Sisters finally escaped together to a faraway place, safe from Wati Nitu’s clutches. To this day, the seven stars of the Sisters can be seen in the night sky as the Pleiades constellation. They are followed by the bright star of Wati Niru, known as Orion.’

We are delighted to share this new consignment of works from the Papulankutja Artists, sharing the story of Kungkarrangkalpa.

‘Iwantja Arts is an Indigenous owned and governed Aboriginal art centre located in the rocky desert country of Indulkana Community on the APY Lands in the remote north west of South Australia.

Iwantja Arts is named after the Iwantja Creek near where the Indulkana Community was founded, which is near the site of the Tjurki (owl) Tjukrpa.

The art centre was established in the 1980s and now supports the artistic careers of over 40 predominantly Yankunytatjara artist members, providing access to artistic and professional development.’

We are delighted to present the new group show NGURA WIRU (GOOD COUNTRY).

A presentation of new work from leading APY Art Centres - Iwantja Arts, Mimili Maku Arts and Tjala Arts.

‘Ngura Wiru translates from the Pitjantjatjara and Yangunytjatjara languages to ‘Good Country’ or ‘Beautiful Country’.

It is a significant cultural expression, reflecting an enduring, profound connection to Aṉangu law and creation stories. It is a phrase used in Aṉangu art to describe ancestral homelands, the vitality of the land and deep cultural connections to Country.’
