It not only gets me out the house but gets me to try different places, explore my community and support local businesses. A lovely walk along to Mindarie boulevard to Union Kitchen for a bite to eat. Lunch specials for $20 included Bao Buns with crispy chicken…sesame oil tops it off. Baked potato with Chilli Con Carne. Both meals absolutely delicious. Great service. Very attentive. Dogs allowed.

Our last night in NZ, we headed for some “fine dining”. Although the prices matched this type of restaurant…the paper tablecloths and service did not. We waited for 5 mins for the water we were offered when we sat at our table. We then waited 10mins to get our drinks order which we also ordered our food. The Ribeye was $51 and all you got was chips and peppercorn gravy…for that price a choice of veges would’ve been better. The oysters were good, pork belly amazing (although the presentation needs rearranging 🫣) and the salmon was slightly undercooked. We then waited another 10mins for our dessert order to be taken once dinner plates were taken and dessert menu given. Other people seemed to take priority over us for some reason. With prices averaging for entrees $23, mains $50, sides $17 and desserts $23…we expected more. We wouldn’t visit again

Arriving on the night Ed Sheeran played…it was busy and we were told there’d be a 45 mins wait for food. The staff were lovely so we took a seat and ordered our drinks. We ordered seafood fettuccine and a green curry. The food was amazing…so were the cocktails 🍸

The BEST tacos ever!!! 🌮 Get the Thai beef option and you won’t regret it! The bruschetta was delicious…just add a bit more salt and pepper 🍅 The beef burger was juicy 🍔 pumpkin and asparagus with tzatziki was a light dish and chips with gravy…eyes bigger than my belly 🤭 Lovely service

So we indulged a bit on our last night in Taupo. Great corner restaurant overlooking the lake. Starters included Garlic Bread 🥖 Bao Buns with pulled pork and Chilli Chicken (only a very slight chilli spice). All delicious and we couldn’t wait for our mains. These were Seafood Chowder 🍲 a lot of seafood bits…needed salt but very tasty and Butter Chicken 🍛 was sweet, could’ve been a bit spicier but nice and creamy. Desserts were Lamington Cocktail 🍸 Cheesecake and Banana Split 🍌 Busy place and attentive staff. Would visit again

Last night’s dinner came with a great view overlooking Lake Taupo. Starters included Tempura Prawns 🍤 and garlic bread 🥖. Mains were Grilled Salmon, Chicken Carbonara and Chorizo Tacos 🌮 with a side of Kumera (sweet potato) fries. All dishes were yummy 😋 and service was excellent

After a hiccup with our last reservation…we headed to Eat Streat and into Wild Rice for an Asian dinner. The chicken satay was amazing and the prawn crackers had a delicious chilli salt sprinkle. The mains were lacking though…Battered fish red curry noodles could’ve used some broccoli/cauliflower, it didn’t need the rice and maybe cook the fish in the curry sauce. The fried rice was a bit bland and need salt. The green chicken curry was a hit.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Cobb & Co Rotorua. Our entrees were prawn cocktail and battered prawns. Both were good size. Mains were Filled chicken schnitzel…delicious, seafood carbonara…amazing and seafood chowder…I should’ve got the large! Oh my goodness it was sooooo good

A late brunch at Trail Kitchen. I had the best omelette here…filled with crispy bacon, diced tomatoes, mushrooms and cheese 😋 Ham & Cheese toastie…the cheese pull 👌Eggs Benedict had a sweet hollandaise sauce. It’s a license cafe attached to a bike trail park attached to a camping area.

The Monarch in Pukekohe treated us to a wonderful meal tonight. A summer cocktail of Pineapple Margarita was delicious 😋 Garlic bread and Bruschetta for entrees…Bruschetta was amazing. Eye Fillet was tender with potato croquettes. Prawn linguine was tasty 🍤 and Chicken Parmigiana was the special. Would order everything again. Staff were attentive and friendly

A night in Sydney before our next leg, we crossed the road to Rowers On Cooks River 🚣🏻‍♀️ Chicken Parmi, Scotch Fillet and Grilled Fish of the day was Barramundi. All good serves and delicious. Good pub type food. The restaurant was quite hot inside. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
