Cook / Grill Cook – Full-Time or Part-Time
The Shack on Carter – Middlemount, QLD
The Shack on Carter is looking for a reliable and experienced Cook / Grill Cook to join our growing team.
This role is primarily focused on grill work, cooking burgers and other menu items to a high standard, while also assisting with fryer operations, food preparation, stock control, cleaning and general kitchen duties.
We are a busy, family-owned takeaway that takes pride in serving quality food and providing a positive workplace culture. We have a mix of experienced and junior staff, so we’re looking for someone who is not only a strong cook but also willing to support and guide younger team members when needed.
Key Responsibilities
* Cook burgers, steaks, fish and other menu items on the grill
* Operate fryers and prepare hot food items
* Assist with food preparation and stock rotation
* Maintain high food quality and presentation standards
* Follow food safety and hygiene procedures
* Wash dishes and assist with kitchen cleaning duties
* Receive and store deliveries correctly
* Work efficiently during busy service periods
* Support and mentor junior staff members when required
* Lead by example through professionalism, teamwork and a positive attitude
About You
* Previous commercial kitchen experience preferred
* Able to work in a fast-paced environment
* Reliable, punctual and hardworking
* Strong understanding of food safety and cleanliness
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Patient and respectful when working with younger staff
* Takes pride in producing quality food consistently
* Available to work evenings and weekends
