Budyń. Pączek. Płatki róż.

Custard, donut & rose petals.

Three things that remind me of childhood in Poland.

All in one delicious treat that .cancook has beautifully put together. Available tonight & Thursday night only.

Some things aren’t negotiable.

Things like not having Żurek for Easter. 🐣 it’s as if you were to cancel Easter all together.

Or Salatka Jarzynowa! There is no celebration in Poland without it. You run yourself down chopping those veggies for days, mainly so you earn that holiday (rest) after all 🤣😵‍💫

This Easter, we are OPEN all day, everyday, for lunch & dinner & everything in between!

We will have an amazing Polish Easter set menu available for those who wish to participate on Friday & Saturday lunch. Set menu includes classics, such as Salatka, Żurek, baked trout & Mazurek (Easter cake).

However, for all others, our regular a’la carte menu will be available all weekend. You can book or walk in at any time.

Additionally to the regular menu, this weekend we will have Żurek (fermented rye flour soup) available as a special, while Chrzanowa (horseradish soup) will be our soup of the week (available from tonight!).

On top of all that, on Easter Sunday, we will be serving up a classic Polish obiad - SCHABOWY (pork schnitzel) with mash potato & mizeria salad (cucumber & cream)

Oh, and did I mention Pstrąg Pierogi? Pierogi with trout in rich lemon & butter sauce 🤤

HOW COULD YOU NOT LOVE EASTER 🐣

Can you believe Easter is next weekend, already!?

Easter, like any type of holiday, brings the sense of calmness & nostalgia.

We want to lean onto that feeling, that’s why we put together a special Polish Easter feast set menu. It will be available on Friday & Saturday at lunch time only, additionally to our regular a’la carte menu.

The set menu will be full of traditional dishes such as Żurek (white Easter Borsch), Rainbow trout baked with almonds, butter, parley and lemon, Salatka Jarzynowa (aka potato salad)… and MAZUREK - Easter cake made by the very talented .cancook ❤️

You can book in (spots are limited so highly recommended!) or walk in anytime.

We are open throughout the entire Easter break, with the usual trading hours.

However, Mazurek will only be available on Friday & Saturday lunch time!

SUPER EXCITING pierogi adjacent news!!

PIEROGI PIEROGI our festival, market and Polish dumpling manufacturing co. has inked a sponsorship deal with the mighty Western Eagles Football Club (WEFC)

Since 1950 Western Eagles and Polonia FC have been a dominant force of football prowess and Polish culture in the West of Melbourne

Since we moved back from living in Europe in 2010 we would frequently visit POLISH CLUB IN ALBION to get our fix of pure Polish nostalgia food and culture.

This mostly included heading up for a Sunday or Saturday lunch or dinner with our son Franek and then watching the football (you might call it soccer) with a cold polish beer at the club house to cheer our favourite Polish football team on!

Now that we have the opportunity to give back to the community through our business and support our love of POLAND and FOOTBALL we are excited to join forces with Western Eagles Football Club to help them on and off the field.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

Western Eagles Members receive a 10% discount over the bar at for food or drink.
Wear your membership jumper to take advantage of the opportunity!

also

Pierogi Pierogi and Eat Pierogi Make Love will post about upcoming home games and invite you up to the always excellent vibe at the Polish Club Albion Sporting complex where you should really try the food at the restaurant but definitely support the football team at their clubhouse Polish bar and grill.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR US?

It may seem counter productive to recommend people away from our restaurant when we are open, we know.
The larger idea of community support and opening doors to Polish culture to people who are not from Poland or aware of the community in Australia have always been the most successful and genuinely enriching parts of our business.

SO with the being said …..

GO WESTERN EAGLES!!

It’s all wrapped up and done.

We are left with blurry memories, charcoal Barbecues to clean and an aunty or two to apologise to….

Our Slavic Bbq event is inspired by the grilled meat summer, Eastern Euro BBQ that has been licked by the eternal flame of Slavic culture.

Only divided by geography, scattered across Central & Eastern Europe and across the Balkans, Slavic culture can be simplistically unified to arguing perpetually with your neighbours, strong white spirits, deep affinity with BBQ meat, socks with sandals and of course sportswear.

Many thanks to

For inspiring us with their beautiful food, strong culture, huge smiles and proud hearts. ❤️

thank you for allowing us do this once again!

There’s no Slavic Barbecue without the… PLUM.

Plum is a bit of a show-off.

It turns up everywhere — across the Balkans and throughout the Slavic world — sweet, tart, boozy, baked, or cooked down for hours until it’s basically a personality trait.

In the orchards, it becomes rakija.
In kitchens, it’s folded into something warm and shared — slow-cooked, rich, comforting. (Think Karkòwka pork neck stuffed with prune!)

On the table, it turns into that deep, dark sweetness (think powidła) that somehow always makes you go back for more.

One fruit that holds it all together.

So for our Slavic BBQ, we’re letting plum do what it does best — bring people together and make things a little bit indulgent.

Three chefs. Different traditions. And plum woven through the SLAV-A-CUE menu in all the right ways.

We couldn’t skip the bar.

PLUM NOIR — dark, juicy, a little mysterious, and very easy to say yes to (again and again).

A special cocktail available THIS WEEKEND ONLY made especially for our event - SLAV-A-CUE.

The event is now sold out - if you are one of the lucky ticket holders, you’re in for a treat!

SLAV-A-CUE is held during lunchtime. Dinner service will run as per usual…. If you would love to try this special cocktail just ask behind the bar, she might be happy to make you one! Stunning creation, Vitalija!!

It’s a subjective opinion to say something is amazing. Or that you love something.

“Placek po węgiersku” though is that dish that everyone, objectively, loves. Why!?

Because it’s good. Real good.

Potato pancakes topped with beef goulash. A classic Polish dish. A bit naughty and very very satisfying.

Italians call them Crostini. We call them Faworki. Maybe we like them more than they do… or maybe Babcia makes it better than Nonna! 🤭🤣🤔

Policzki Wołowe - beef cheeks with kopytka.

So tender, they fall apart. Kopytka = Polish style gnocchi.

SCHABOWY Sunday came early this month, as February was so quick!

25/02/2026

I get quite home sick if I don’t get to travel back home for more than 2 years. By home I mean Poland in general. There are places there that I have to re-visit on regular basis or something in me feels incomplete.

Bar Przystan in Sopot is one of them. Sopot is up north, right on the Baltic Sea and it’s famous for all the beautiful fish you get to eat there. Fish so fresh that you would literally see the fishermans boats on the shore in front of bar Przystan. Freshly caught, freshly smoked, freshly minced into a fish sausage – yes! Ah, Poland!

Back to Bar Przystan though… imagine me, 19 years old, travelling through Poland on my frequent hitch hiking trips, I found this place along a beach side walk just out of town. Being slightly obsessed with anything soup, I went straight for Zupa Rybaka (fish soup) and I was instantly hooked. I never had a fish soup before, never heard of it. The region I come from (South) doesn’t have fish soup, even Warsaw – the capital city didn’t have it. I used to go on a day trip (4-5h one way!) from Warsaw to Sopot just to eat that soup!

It’s that good.

This used to be my secret spot. Just a regular bar on the Seaside with incredibly tasty soup, that’s all. The secret is out now. Bar Przystan is on top of Tripadvisor’s list of places to visit when in Poland. You’d be lucky to go there and avoid the queue. The soup is still as ridiculously good as I remember.

Things are tougher now that I live in Australia. I’d still jump on a 30h flight just to go and eat there in a heartbeat! This is not quite possible right now, so while I wait for the world to get back to normal, I work on trying to recreate that soup at home. I’m not quite there yet, but pretty close!

Extra lucky now having the super talented who simply nailed the brief and made the most delicious fish soup for all of us (you and me!) to enjoy at EPML this week. Starting tonight.

The fish used: wild cough barramundi, blue grenadier, rainbow trout, flathead & salmon.

Think of it as the most delicate fish broth you’ve ever tasted.

Important note - literally everyone I asked to try it weren’t exactly sold on the idea, until they tasted it. They all loved it!
