ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

The Sketches

The Sketches have performed their take on personal tales, both loudly and softly, since November 2011.

Punters throw around Redgum, The Go Betweens, REM, The Decemberists or Flogging Molly as influences.

The Sketches themselves have explored a range of sound over almost fifteen years. They are unsure if it is rock, rock/folk, folk/rock, folk/punk, funk/rock/punk… Whatever it is, you can sum up The Sketches as stories told with an Australian accent.

A louder version has performed at HOBOFOPO in 2019 and 2021.
Post-pandemic, a quieter version also performed at HOBOFOPO (2023, 2024), Cygnet Folk Festival (2026), Dark MOFO’s Winter Feast (2026) and the Devonport Blues and Roots Festival (2026).

The Sketches released their third, self-titled EP in 2024.

You can catch The Sketches live at Songbird Exchange Festival at the Longley International Hotel on Saturday October 3rd, doors open 11am.
