APPRECIATION POST!!
Each Saturday morning is a special time for us, it's when we feel welcomed, appreciated and loved by the local community who have embraced us.
For 15 years now we have served our breakfast offerings at the Lismore Farmers Market , to begin with just bacon, eggs, and our cheesey Omelettes.
From the humble beginnings of just a 3 burner stove and a few frying pans, to now knocking it out from our (still humble) yellow van.
Though we may never know, which way the wind might blow, how many might or might not show, the appreciation you have given is so warm it glows.
More than twenty years have passed since we left Cronulla, and then made our home here one Northern rivers summer.
We knew that cooking was the one thing we could both do well, so we jumped at the opportunity to operate the restaurant at the Eltham hotel.
The Mayfield hotel, it used to be, so where our name came from is easy to see.
Seven years later we've moved up to Dunoon, & still the community's love shone through!
Then came the markets, Lismore, Mullum, New Brighton, Murwullimbah. With our 3 burner stove, frypans, eskies and a gazebo, all thrown in a trailer, we travelled wide and far.
One car boot market morning, around 2017, I noticed a 'business for sale' sign on what's now our yellow submarine.
Not that it was yellow back then of course, more a dull graying white, no extraction fans, and not a frying pan in sight!
The only cooking surface was a big iron flat plate burner, which perhaps explained why they only sold burgers.
Yes, it looked like a road worthy failure, but it sure beat setting up and packing down to & from a little box trailer.
And now another 9 years has gone zooming by, and perhaps it still ain't so easy on the eye, but it's practical & capable and with extraction installed, the grease no longer runs down the walls! We want to tell you Lismore it's been a pleasure to serve you, & no, this doesn't mean we're through! We have no plans to quit our operation, we just wish to express our appreciation.
