Joey’s story has touched our hearts, and we’re lending a hand to support his upcoming surgery.

From tomorrow until next Thursday, we’ll be donating $1 from every coffee sold, and we’ve also popped a donation box on our counter.

Many of you know what a passionate animal lover I am, and you'll also know how much I admire the incredible work Michelle and her team do every single day for animals in need.

Michelle Jesson is the founder of North East Animal Sanctuary and sweet little Joey — or Jo Jo as he's affectionately known — is a perfect example of why their work matters so much.

As a no-kill shelter, Michelle is constantly working to cover mounting vet bills, and Joey, who was recently surrendered, is urgently in need of two surgeries. This gorgeous two-year-old boy deserves every chance at a full and happy life, and none of us want to see that taken away from him.

Joey is currently suffering from bilateral cruciate ligament issues as well as entropion in both eyes — a condition where the eyelids turn inward, causing constant pain and irritation. Once these surgeries are done, he can finally live the comfortable, pain-free life he deserves.

If you're able to spare any amount at all — no matter how small — every single cent makes a real difference. Donations are also fully tax deductible, so you can give knowing it counts in more ways than one.

If you needed a reason to smile today, here are three 😍

🐶Rusty 🐶Darby and 🐶Alfie stopped by this morning - tails wagging, noses twitching, and absolutely ready for treats. These three know the routine: puppa‑chinos, a few homemade doggy snacks, and plenty of pats from the team.

There’s something special about watching our four‑legged regulars settle in while their humans enjoy a coffee.

Bring your furry friend next time you visit. We’ll have the puppa‑chinos ready and the treats waiting.

🐾Romero’s Furry Friends - VIP Edition🐾

Featuring: 🐶RUSTY the Jack Russell & GERARD the Human

Say hello to Rusty, eleven years old and a pint-sized powerhouse who trots into our pup friendly dining area like he owns the joint.

Rusty is one of our more recent furry VIPs: he has that Jack Russell mix of confidence, curiosity, and “I’ll just supervise everything, thanks.” He does his rounds, checks who’s on coffee duty, inspects the treat situation, and then settles in like a tiny mayor doing his morning patrol.

His visits always bring a smile — whether he’s perched proudly beside Gerard and or giving us that “yes, I will take a🥛 puppa chino” look.

We love seeing all the four-legged locals, drop in with your woofer and enjoy our outdoor pet friendly dining area… 🥛puppa chinos and homemade doggy treats are on us.

"My daughter and I decided to try Cafe Romero for our lunch date today. We have lived in the area for nearly 9 years, and we have never been here before.
What a cool little place!! The feel of the Cafe is warm and inviting with groovy little booths at the back, tables at the front or even some outside dining. The menu was family friendly, with toasted sandwiches to fish and chips, burgers and all-day breakfast options... or even pick from the things at the counter.
The lady behind the counter was honest and let us know it would be a little wait for food due to the orders in front of us. But the drinks came about half way through our wait and the rest of the time we got to chat. It was probably about 20-25mins wait. The smoothy and coffee was delicious, and when my burger came out I nearly died when I saw the size!! It was stacked up high and absolutely delicious!!
We will definitely be back... and for all those cookie lovers out there... the biggest cookies I've ever seen are at the counter. Thanks for a lovely lunch experience."
