"A Hotel of Uncommon Character"

Begun in 1850, The Royal Oak Hotel has been continually licensed since that time. The Royal Oak Hotel is a 'home away from home' and is one of those rare modern pubs that eschews gaming machines and pay-tv, preferring instead the grand art of conversation and conviviality. The Royal Oak Hotel is a generational place; stories and legends have been made, and continu

e to be made, within its interior. "The Oak", as it is affectionately known, is the reference point for many of Launceston's citizens, past and present.

You know what really pops off? Pussay Poppins. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ She's on tonight to make your bin-go BINGO!.... you know what goes with a Poppin Pussay Bingo? Our Sour Puss pride cocktail. πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

Sour Puss πŸ‹ She puts the tail into cocktail. She's pink, she's tart AND tarty, and she wants you to wrap your lips around her sweet raspberry coulis rim.

The Puss of Sour is a magical combination of McHenry Distillery butterfly gin, raspberry liqueur, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon and sugar into a silky sour that's equal parts sweet, sharp and fabulous.

Finished with a berry coulis rim because our cocktail maestra Ellen knows what your heart needs.

Available for a limited time upstairs in our cocktail bar. Toast yourself bby.

Ten buck tinnies! 🍺 For this week only, Mountain Culture Status Quo Pale Ale and Mountain Culture Neon Splice Juice Trip cans are just $10.

Status Quo isn't just another pale ale. It's the beer that has topped the GABS Hottest 100 year after year, earning a reputation as one of Australia's most celebrated craft beers. Juicy, hazy and packed with tropical fruit character, it's the kind of beer that turns "just one" into a second round remarkably quickly.

Prefer something a little more tropical?

Neon Splice takes Mountain Culture's Juice Trip series and dials up pineapple and lime for a nostalgic hit that tastes suspiciously like a certain ice cream from your childhood. Bright, juicy and dangerously crushable.

Two cracking beers. $10 tinnies. This week only.

See you at the bar.

❄️ Winter has arrived at The Oak ❄️

The new winter menu is here, and it's packed with everything we love about the colder months.

Fresh oysters with all the trimmings. Golden mushroom arancini. Slow-cooked Tasmanian lamb shoulder. Proper chicken parmigianas. A 300g grass-fed scotch fillet. Market fish. House-made pasta. Seasonal sides. Winter greens.

For the vegetarians, we've doubled down on flavour with dishes like our specialty roasted mushrooms with cider-braised lentils and kale, miso-glazed sweet potato, toasted walnuts and plant-based Persian feta, alongside walnut and sage pesto spaghetti with zucchini, spinach and pangrattato.

And because no good meal should end too early, there are plenty of snacks and small plates to build a feast from. Oysters, charcuterie, olives, fries, onion rings, sourdough, arancini and more.

We've also kept our Little Mates menu for under 12s, with schnitzels, parmis, fish and chips and pasta all available for $15.

Whether you're dropping in for a quick midweek dinner, a long lunch with friends, a date night or a family gathering, there's something new waiting on the menu.

Book into the bistro and discover winter at The Oak.

Take a look around πŸ‚πŸ·

One of the best things about The Oak isn't on the menu.

It's the way the afternoon light comes through the plantation shutters. The window seats with views across the city. The planter boxes softening the edges of a 180-year-old building. The little details that make you want to stay for one more drink.

We've spent years carefully restoring and updating this historic pub, preserving its character while making it a comfortable place to gather today. Heritage-sensitive touches sit alongside contemporary Australian art, warm dining rooms and spaces designed for long lunches, celebrations and quiet catch-ups alike.

Head upstairs and you'll find the rooftop garden, complete with espalier apple trees and one of the best outlooks in town.

And now that winter has arrived, we're wheeling out the fire pit on Friday and Saturday evenings and serving mulled wine to keep the chill at bay.

A historic pub. A warm fire. A glass of something good.

Sounds like a great winter to us.
