Merry St turns TWO 🎈

Two years of opening the doors, setting the tables, changing the menus, pouring the wine and somehow doing it all again the next day.

There have been some incredible highs, some pretty spectacular lows, a lot of lessons learnt the hard way, plenty of “what the hell are we doing?” moments, and so many moments that have reminded us exactly why we started.

Running a little hospitality business is not for the faint-hearted. Running one as husband and wife might be even more questionable! But through the last two years of long days, big decisions, quiet winters, busy summers, curveballs and chaos, we’re still here. Still married. Still backing each other. And still really proud of this little place we’ve built together.

But Merry St has never just been the two of us.

To our amazing team, thank you for caring about this place just as much as we do, for showing up, working bloody hard and becoming such a huge part of its story.

To our locals, our regulars, the holiday makers who come back every year, the suppliers, producers, winemakers, friends and everyone who has booked a table, ordered another bottle, come to a Merry Night, told a friend about us, bought a voucher, shared a post or simply kept walking through our doors, thank you!

Every bit of that support matters more than you probably realise, particularly in a small hospitality business like ours.

Two years ago Merry St was an idea we were taking a pretty big punt on. Today it feels like part of this community - and that might be the thing we’re proudest of.

Happy 2nd birthday Mezza, here’s to a few more!

We’re on the hunt for an Apprentice Chef to join us at Merry St.

We’re looking for someone who loves food, works hard, has a good attitude and is keen to learn the ropes alongside Luke and our little Merry kitchen crew.

Expect good food, plenty of laughs, questionable banter and a proper chef apprenticeship along the way.

School-based or full-time apprentices considered.
