Just 40km from Kalgoorlie, this historic town offers a fascinating glimpse into the Goldfields’ past. Stroll along Bayley Street to admire the heritage buildings, explore the Goldfields Exhibition Museum and visit Ben Prior’s outdoor museum. Add a stop at Coolgardie Bluff to take in its striking red rock formations and capture a few photos.

📸 Menzies & Lake Ballard
Make a full day of it with a stop in the historic town of Menzies before continuing to Lake Ballard. Here, Antony Gormley’s 51 sculptures stretch across the vast salt lake, creating an extraordinary outdoor art experience. Allow plenty of time to explore on foot and take in the scenery. Head to Red Hill Lookout for sweeping views across the shimmering salt flats of Lake Lefroy. Enjoy the surrounding bushland along the walking trail, then pause for a picnic with a view.

🌼 Wildflower season in the Goldfields

One of the most beautiful times to explore Kalgoorlie-Boulder is during wildflower season, when the surrounding bushland comes to life with colourful native blooms.

Just a short drive from The View On Hannans, Karlkurla Bushland Park is a great local spot to experience the season. The park features walking trails through more than 200 hectares of natural bushland, giving visitors the chance to slow down, enjoy the fresh air and see some of the unique flora found throughout the Goldfields.

Depending on the season and rainfall, you may spot colourful eremophilas, wattles, Goldfields daisies, cassia and a variety of other native wildflowers along the way. 🌸🌿

It’s an easy addition to a Kalgoorlie-Boulder stay, whether you’re planning a morning walk, looking for somewhere peaceful to explore or simply want to see another side of the Goldfields beyond its famous mining history.
