Well that’s it on Monday 16 March the Gilgai Tavern is closed as we hand over to new owners, 18 years 2 months & 4 days or 6,638 days, we are at the end of the journey
Selling the Tavern —exciting, nostalgic, and a little sad. So many wonderful memories thanks to all our customers you are all so very special to us. As are so many that are no longer with us 🥲
We especially want to acknowledge our staff—not just the guys here today, but to so many over the years. You are the backbone, the energy, and the soul of this place. You show up when we need you, you deliver and do an outstanding job—not just for us, but for every customer who walks through the door. We are eternally grateful. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you—you’ll never truly know how much we love and appreciate you.
We also want to give a special mention to our wonderful tradies who have always been so supportive.
One of the hardest times ever - was the cyclone and the aftermath, there is no chance we would have had the Tavern looking as beautiful as she does if it wasn’t for Phil, Brett, Shane & Corey – though there were many others who lent a hand: thank you for bringing this place back to life.
And finally - we have to give a massive, heartfelt shout-out to Loni, OMG – getting this place sold has a marathon – the time, effort and the enduring patience it has taken is nothing short of miraculous. Loni, words can’t express our gratitude—you are an absolute angel.
So here’s to the memories, the friendships that will last a lifetime, and to the Tavern—may her walls always ring with laughter and her bar never run dry.
To the past, the future, and to all of you. Cheers
