A winter day in Kalbarri.
The Gaba gaba Yina aka the Beach to Bluff trail. This steep trail takes you to a spectacular lookout perched high above the ocean.
We loved and enjoyed the view and pondered the lives of the Nanda people and the early Dutch explorers who explored this section of the coastline.

We still can’t get over how much there is to do in Kalbarri without spending a cent on activities. We spent a few days there and swear your wallet can have a proper rest while you fill your camera roll instead.

👉 Snorkel the Blue Holes for calm, crystal-clear water and heaps of colourful sea life (we spotted crayfish hiding in the rocks)
👉 Join the daily pelican feeding at Kalbarri foreshore, an early morning ritual that’s pure Aussie charm (we loved hanging with those cheeky birds)
👉 Visit the Pink Lake (Hutt Lagoon) for surreal sunset photos of the pink-hued water (bring your floatie for a splash)
👉 Watch surfers rip it up at Jake’s Point, or if you’re keen, throw your board under your arm and join in (great spot for a sneaky coffee from the vans too)
👉 Chill out on Kalbarri’s beautiful beaches like Chinaman’s for quiet vibes or Red Bluff for epic views (we could’ve spent all day just soaking it in)
👉 Take a stroll along Red Bluff’s rust-red cliffs and be amazed by waves crashing below (perfect place to set up a camp chair at sunset with a cold drink)
👉 Head to Ross Graham Lookout for insane views of the Murchison River gorge and that vibrant red earth (we felt like we’d landed somewhere else on the planet)
👉 Hit the main highlights of Kalbarri National Park in one day – Nature’s Window, Z Bend, Skywalk, Island Rock, and Natural Bridge (all accessible without a 4WD, bonus!)
👉 Tackle the Bigurda Trail hike for stunning cliff views and maybe spot whales or dolphins on the way (great exercise with a view)
👉 Time your trip right and catch whales breaching from the coastal cliffs between June and November (don’t forget binoculars for a closer look)
👉 Stretch your legs and spot breathtaking wildflowers in spring, especially around Z Bend and Red Bluff (there are over 800 species to make you do a double take)
👉 Take your pick of free activities in town: fishing, paddle boarding, stargazing at the Skywalk, watching local markets, or just sinking into the sunset (we never got bored!)

🛻 Travel tip from us put your alarm on early in Kalbarri – starting at dawn means cooler walks and epic sunrises to kick off your adventures
