Yesterday was one of those days that Darcy’s Daily Weather won’t forget anytime soon and the reason why we were closed yesterday ❤️
The day started bright and early with us already working up a sweat by 7am loading firewood into bags. Darcy does this job for one of the locals to earn some pocket money and I love that it not only teaches him the value of hard work and money, but also helps build his strength and confidence.
From there, we headed off to Mt Coot-tha for what was a very exciting day at 7NEWS Brisbane. Darcy had been invited for a tour of the studios and to meet weather presenter Tony Auden. As someone who absolutely loves weather and forecasting, he was beyond excited to meet a qualified meteorologist and see the weather systems and studio setup firsthand.
We were warmly welcomed by the lovely Lauren who took us through the different studios and explained how everything works behind the scenes. After a couple of practice runs with Tony, he turned to Darcy and said:
"Okay Darcy, you're a natural at this. How would you like to go live with me and present the weather in 30 minutes?"
Well, you can imagine the excitement! 😍
Without hesitation, Darcy jumped at the opportunity and absolutely shone. He was completely in his element doing what he loves most and soaking up every second of the experience. As a parent, it's pretty special watching your child pursue something they're so passionate about.
To top off an already amazing day, we caught up with the boys big sister (who owns The Crepe Nook in Bowen Hills) for dinner at Newstead enjoying some very delicious Yo-Chi together before finishing with sushi 🍣🍦yep we did dessert first 😋🙈
A huge thank you to Tony Auden, Lauren and the Channel 7 team for making Darcy feel so welcome and giving him an experience he'll treasure forever. Seeing his confidence grow and his passion encouraged by such wonderful people was incredibly special.
What a day 🤪❤️🌦️📺
