Immigration must be controlled
As a hotel owner and publican, I see firsthand how much regional hospitality depends on good people.
Goulburn Pub Group
At Goulburn Pub Group, we directly employ more than 60 staff and work with third-party businesses whose teams include more than 500 people. Several of our valued team members are international workers here on working visas. They work hard, support our businesses and contribute to our local community.
Our hotels welcome people of all political views, backgrounds and beliefs. We are a non-political business, and this is about the practical needs of our industry and the wellbeing of our communities.
Whatever party forms government, we should expect it to protect Australia from violent extremism, regardless of ideology or religion. We should also welcome people who respect our laws, want to work and make a positive contribution. Those responsibilities go hand in hand.
Finding and retaining staff in regional kitchens, bars and accommodation businesses can be incredibly difficult. We want to employ locally wherever possible, but when vacancies cannot be filled, international workers help keep our doors open. Sponsoring skilled workers involves substantial costs and commitments, while working holidaymakers also help fill seasonal and regional staffing gaps.
Behind every migration policy decision are real businesses, employees, families and communities.
We support a balanced, practical approach that protects Australia, recognises the needs of regional employers and values the good people who come here to contribute.
This is about people and keeping regional hospitality thriving. Congratulations to the Australian Hotels Association NSW for putting this video together
