The investigation continues,
We can confirm both the City of Florida City and Miami Dade County have opened an investigation into this fraud.

Now that it’s confirmed this City Check was fraudulent altered, forged payee and the funds were paid and recalled by the bank after confirming fraud.

We can also inform it seems a certain Commissioner is possibly requesting representation by the City Attorney, paid by the taxpayers of Exit 1.

The question is , is there an arrest coming soon?

Will an arrest happen at the next Commission meeting ?

There are allegations that a criminal case number has already been generated and possibly two..

Will the Commissioner resign if an arrest does occur??

Allegedly Exit 1 Commissioner Trina Wilborn did what ??

According to reports, One issue is getting some side eye attention that involves potential financial bank fraud concerning Avant School of Excellence and a payment intended for the City of Florida City.

According to allegations on Aug. 14 a letter from Avant School of Excellence CEO Julie Ravenell addressed to Thompson, Poag and Finance Director Chad Burkhalter.

Did you hear Chad is now the New City Manager??

Back to the potential bank fraud…

Records show that Florida City previously made a $12,000 payment towards a lease arrangement and that the account later reflected an overage of $1,600.

Avant issued a $1,600 check payable to the City of Florida City as reimbursement for the overpayment, respectfully.

Ravenell alleges that the check was altered without her knowledge or authorization after it left her possession. A later image of the check appears to contain an additional handwritten payee.

Ravenell also states that Bank of America placed a stop payment for potential fraud and that a replacement $1,600 payment was later issued directly to Florida City.

They do not establish who altered the check or the elected official that committed the wrongdoing.
