The Maries Story

In 1979 Marie and Ted Sherman (Snr.) packed up the car and moved the five children from rural Bathurst in NSW to Queensland’s Gold Coast in search of warmer weather. The goal was to provide jobs, a better lifestyle and security for their family.

Maries Pizza was founded in 1981 with the first store opened at Palm Beach on Queensland’s Gold Coast. From the beginning Ted and Marie recognised the need for excellence, and a point of difference, and developed their unique pizza dough with the assistance of a World Renowned pastry chef.

Toppings were (and still are) always fresh and plentiful and it wasn’t long before Maries Pizza became legendary and sought out by many of the visiting rich and famous celebrities and dignitaries.
