An update for our customers.

We want to be transparent about what has been happening behind the scenes.

At this stage, we are uncertain whether Dick & Co. will be able to continue operating beyond 5 August due to issues concerning the building’s compliance.

When we purchased the business and entered into the lease, we were not told of the building compliance issues or that significant upgrades would be required. We are now involved in a legal dispute concerning these matters.

Whatever the outcome, one lesson we have learned is this: if you’re considering buying a business, don’t just investigate the business itself. Make sure you thoroughly investigate the premises, compliance requirements and any potential future obligations before signing anything. Ask questions. Get independent legal advice. Request documentation. It could save you from finding yourself in a very difficult position.
