It has been more than six years since we closed the venue so we have not been affected by the COVID-19 crisis that has closed every venue in metropolitan Melbourne.

I hope every venue can survive this economic lockdown and be allowed to re-open soon.

Please support them when they do re-open. They've been doing it super tough and I think how heartbreaking it must be to be forced to close.

I am sad also for the patrons to miss out on excellent entertainment that supports a whole industry of live music and hospitality - jobs, jobs, jobs.

......... I appreciate all the likes of the venue since we closed because it shows you all miss us. However, we are closed. Sorry - you will need to find a new venue. Happy New Year to all of you!!!!!!!

With the opening of The Stone Hotel, the new pub where The Cape Lounge was, we have no more posts to add. This is the end of the era. All the best to Tom Junior and Tom Senior as they build a crowd who likes the new style. So far, 28 reviews and 5/5 on Facebook. That shows they have some loyal fans.

The Stone Hotel is now open, just under a year after Cape Lounge closed. It is a completely new make-over with a different theme - you get craft beer on tap and good drinking food. It is open from noon to late most nights. It seems like a great place to meet up before you go out clubbing or to drop in after work. The iconic Satan and Provincial have a new competitor that is nicer looking and better located. Good luck fellas!

The new tenant is doing an amazing job of refurbishing the place. Once it is open, it is worth having a look and buying a drink or two. There will be an incredible upstairs courtyard protected from the wind and open to the warmth outside. I wish them well.

As it was taking so long for the landlord to submit the application for the transfer of the Liquor Licence, I asked the Commission for Liquor and Gambling Regulation to release Cape Lounge from the obligations under the Licence. I have no idea when the Liquor Licence will be transferred.

It should all start happening soon. The liquor licence is in the process of being transferred.

The new tenant is putting together a different format. Hopefully, it will appeal to our customers. I am sure you will find a new favourite if it doesn't.
