Six weeks ago a cyclone went through Exmouth. Since then it’s been empty rooms, container runs, make-shift offices and a lot of furniture going back where it belongs.⁠

Not the season we planned. But the crew putting Mantarays back together have made it a good one anyway - chocolate stakes and all.⁠

Another week on site, another long list ticked off. The work this week was less about big reveals and more about the slog: furniture out, furniture back in, ceilings stripped back, breaks taken wherever a stack of sun loungers would have them.⁠

⁠The team's still here. Still lifting, still laughing, still fuelled by whatever the kitchen puts on the table (which, for the record, remains exceptional).⁠
⁠
⁠There's plenty to work through and we're not pretending otherwise. But every day looks a little more like a resort again, and a little less like a worksite. The coast is still out the front doing its thing.⁠

Another week on site. Progress here doesn't always look dramatic - it's mulch going into garden beds, the pool getting a little cleaner each day, the kitchen turning out lunch for a crew that never seems to slow down. The unglamorous, in-between stuff that doesn't make for a flashy update, but adds up faster than you'd think.⁠
⁠
The smiles on site say it all. Morale is high, the team is showing up every single day, and the Ningaloo coast is doing what it always does: making it very hard to have a bad day.⁠

We even managed a 5km beach run down the gulf this week. Conditions: extremely hot. ⁠

We've been quiet on here, but anything but quiet on site.⁠

Since Cyclone Narelle swept through in late March, our team (and a small army of incredibly hard-working tradies, volunteers and crew) have been showing up every day to bring Mantarays back. There have been long days, big plans spread across dusty tables, and more than a few team lunches keeping everyone going.⁠
⁠
The progress has been real. The morale has been high. And Exmouth, as always, has delivered a sunset or two to remind us what we're working towards.⁠
⁠
We're not quite there yet - but we're getting close. More soon.
