It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of Cloudy’s Café.
When we opened, it was done in good faith and based on the advice and approvals we had received from Council at the time. Once it became apparent that there were aspects of the process that had not been correctly addressed, we immediately tried to rectify them. However, without any certainty as to how long the process may take to resolve, we have made the difficult decision not to continue pursuing it. As former dairy farmers who have already worked a lifetime, we have come to the simple conclusion that life is too short.
To the local businesses (who shall remain anonymous) who chose to actively object to us remaining open, we simply say this — competition is not a crime. If our small food van was seen as such a significant threat, perhaps it would have been better to direct your energy and reflect on your own business and not ours.
We would like to extend a very sincere thank you to Steve from Elmore Panel & Paint, not only for generously providing the space for us to operate from, but for the encouragement and support he gave us from the very beginning. Without that push, Cloudy’s Café would never have existed at all.
And to the many regular customers who stopped by day after day — thank you. The opportunity to meet you, get to know you, and share a laugh has been something truly special. From the endless chats across the counter, to the lively political problem-solving sessions, to the simple daily catch-ups — it has meant far more to us than you probably realise.
We will miss the laughter, the conversations, and the sense of community that grew around the van.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support.
