SATURDAY: THE SLOPPY JALOPIES

One of the country’s most exciting young rock bands The Sloppy Jalopies, will release their much-anticipated debut album “The Good, The Bad, and The Sloppy” in May ahead of launch show at the Melbourne home of rock, the Tote in June.

Recorded by Elvis Walsh in his home studio in Footscray, the album consists of loud, unapologetic riffs which embody both modern and classical takes on heavy rock n roll. The mixing and mastering process saw a more nuanced approach, with producer Lachlan McGregor using the tools at his disposal to try and control the chaos, in order to complete 8 heavy, raw, and polished tracks.

"The Good, The Bad, and The Sloppy" will be launched at the iconic Tote band room on the 13th of June, worked up to have even more hype than their first ever headlining gig, which saw more than 200 punters fill up The Workers Club band room. If anyone likes rock and roll one little bit, then they will want to be at this gig.

FRIDAY: HOT GLUE - 'Again, Again' Album Launch

Melbourne rock band Hot Glue will take to the The Tote band room stage to launch their new album 'Again, Again' with support from Human Noise and UNIT.

Made up of siblings Lily (she/her) and Pearl Harnath (they/them) with Henry Lucas (he/him) on drums, the band uses shoegaze-y, fuzzy guitars and loud, heavy drums to accompany reflective lyricism in a bittersweet and cathartic manner. Their upcoming album Again, Again is the band at their grittiest and most honest. Over the ten tracks, the band delve deep into the cycles they find themselves in throughout life, both destructive and productive. There is comfort in repetition and also frustration, all of which is conveyed through raucous and tender moments. The result is a textured set of fuzzed out songs that ultimately see the band finding comfort in the relentlessness of life’s cycles, twists and turns.

THURSDAY UPSTAIRS: TAZ FLOWER

Taz Flower is a Melbourne-based singer-songwriter/ producer that blends genres of rnb/soul, Bossa Nova and hip-hop/spoken word elements. Growing up with a nylon string guitar by his side and a home of worldly musical influences allowed the 20-year-old artist to blossom creatively. Taz has evolved into his own sound that creates groove-heavy and colourful tracks packed with personality.

Starting this year, Taz has been performing around Melbourne’s inner-north, supporting other acts and refining his set and skills. Now, with a 5-piece band-(including backup vocals from the soulful Harriet wraith and exciting saxophone harmonies of Banksia’s Cedar), he is ready to bring Melbourne to his first headliner at The Tote.

Taz Flower is ready to put on a show. His soulful melodies and snappy rhymes combined with his backing band- known as “The Dance Party” will be create a night to remember. Combined with Harriet Wraith and Kitty Mustang as supports, this will not be a gig to miss.
