This is a phrase I started using when making big decisions about healing the stage 4 cancer & one that I continue to use daily.
Last year when I had my hip replacement I was desperate to ditch the crutches! I did everything I could to learn to walk again without them. I thought they were holding me back from strengthening and I worried that I would just learn to rely on them.
Since I've been travelling I have been using one of my crutches & the hiking sticks more often to help me during the long walks & days of activities. They have been a godsend & I've hardly missed out on anything.
Looking back now, I think I ditched the sticks too soon & that had I have kept using them I may have been able to strengthen my muscles & get back on my own two feet easier & quicker than I have. I'm feeling much stronger within myself & my limp has lessened. I believe the crutch/hiking sticks & exercises have been helping.
But, as this saying suggests, I do not have regrets about my choices, I've just learned from them.
And the lesson?
Don't rush. Everything will happen in due time.
