As we go into our last day of trading tomorrow I just wanted to thank the Cloncurry community for the support you have given Urban Leaf Cafe over the past 2 years. I never expected how successful and busy our little cafe would be from the start of trading and the positive support we have had from the community. I will really miss seeing our regular customers as they get their early morning coffees and food to get them through the day and sharing the local gossip with you.
People often ask me if I'm sick of dealing with the public, but this has honestly been the best part of my day. You have all been so understanding when things didn't go quite right and are always on for a chat. You made the early mornings worthwhile and I think I have really become a morning person!
I have always been really lucky with staff and I'd like to thanks all the wonderful people I have worked with, some of you going above and beyond to support me when times were tough and I was feeling exhausted. I have made some great friends amongst the people I have employed and look forward to catching up after we close. Thanks to Jen who has been there from the start and has filled our cake cabinet with yummy treats that have kept everyone excited about visiting the cafe. You really know how to create a masterpiece and your cakes will be sorely missed.
Thanks to the staff at IGA and Foodworks who have always gone above and beyond to provide products through some difficult times (floods, beetroot shortages, potato shortages, egg shortages.... I never knew there were so many shortages and from so many different factors!) I know you sometimes get a hammering from the keyboard warriors but you are really so supportive of the community and try hard to provide quality products. Your efforts have meant a lot to me, even if you do give me a hard time about how many times I visit in a day.
And lastly to my family and friends who were usually unable to walk through the door without me asking for a favour or listening to my woes. You understand why I am unable to open for another year and I am so looking forward to having more time for you, however you can get your own coffee from now on 🤣.
