This is Michael. Many of you will be familiar with Michael’s latte art journey featuring on our Saturday stories!
Michael began volunteering with Kinfolk in early 2020 with the goals of gaining confidence socialising, finding employment and becoming a barista! When he started nailing coffee basics Michaels goal quickly soared to making it into the finals in a latte art competition!
Through his time with Kinfolk Michael has learnt all the tricks of the trade and has spent time on the floor, behind the till, at the bar (he has a particular interest in cocktail making) and most importantly steaming milk and growing his latte art skills!
Thanks to all of the experience he gained on-site, Michael now has obtained his first goals - he is working as an all rounder at vegan cafe Round The Crow. “My experience at Sibling definitely helped me land this job, I gained confidence both working in the cafe and socialising with people I don’t know”. Although he is now working (alongside completing his final year of a Bachelor of Computer Science I might add) Michael has now attended a few latte art competitions and is still working towards making it into the finals :) We couldn’t be more proud of Michael’s growth throughout his time at Sibling ☕️

As of yesterday, a bunch of single use plastics have been officially banned in Victoria! 👏🏻
No more plastic straws, cutlery, plates, sugar stirrers, cotton buds or polystyrene containers!
Coffee cups are not however included in this, we’re ahead of the game with our single use option being .paper and of course, we always encourage bringing a reusable cup! Go Victoria! ♻️

It’s assessment time! Today we are conducting the final assessments for our accredited coffee training course. Minsung here just passed with flying colours putting together all of the skills he has learnt throughout the duration of this course to prepare a well textured, perfect temperature example of each coffee for our trainer Ximena to assess. Through partnering with we saw 7 learners move through our 10 week course. They have all done amazingly! We are gearing up for round two to start early March, applications are now live through our website ☕️

Summer vibes are high this weekend. Our special is packed with heirloom tomatoes, black plum, buffalo mozzarella, basil oil, raspberry dressing with charred sourdough. Grab a Montenegro spritz while you’re at it, game on 👌🏻🌞

Most of you will remember bright, shining Madi. Madi started volunteering with Kinfolk in 2017 as she was struggling to find work. Madi’s goal was always finding employment but she had a tough journey in doing so. After years of volunteering unfailingly every week, last year Madi landed herself a permanent job at Jay Jay’s! “Whilst volunteering at Kinfolk and Sibling I learnt a number of valuable skills, I was able to work in a fast paced environment and learn how to interact with a diverse range of people. I am thankful for the experience and would absolutely recommend volunteering if you are looking to gain confidence and skills for employment”.
We miss seeing Madi every week, but could not be more proud to see her progress into this next stage of her employment journey. Madi’s current goals? Assistant manager! Heck yeah! 👏🏻

This weekend’s special is for the cauliflower lovers! We have charred cos, cauliflower rice with desert lime and pine nuts, cauliflower purée, roast cauliflower and a poached egg on sourdough toast. Here this weekend only!

Each week our chef Hwansoung comes up with something delicious for our weekend special. This weekend we have a savoury French toast! Stuffed with mushroom duxelles, cheddar & mozzarella, then topped with , and more cheese, this one is a real treat! As always, numbers are limited.
