We are always trying to reflect and make our show more accessible within our means. All of the production crew donate their time and each show takes about 80 hours to put together.

For our next show and other shows in the future we are going to try out this new system. Wheel chair users, and other mobility aid users will be brought in ahead of the rest of the audience. They will be given reserved seats in front of the stage. In these seats they are less likely to have other audience members moving around them.

It will mean that is helpful if they arrive about half an hour before the show, so we can do this. It will also mean that it might be hard for them to move from that spot once they are in (we will always help you to move if you need to).

So we thought it might be a good idea if you meet the person who is going to greet you for the show on the 5th of July.

Tonight at Smith’s, Friday 12th June, 2026

Jazmine Mary (NZ) with Dog Name and Ophelia Sabine

Jazmine Mary is an Alt Folk artist based in Aotearoa (NZ) This will be their debut performance in Australia with their band celebrating the most recent release “I want to Rock and Roll” out on Flying Nun Records.

“When you step into a Jazmine Mary gig, be prepared to be met by either a clown, a popstar, a pilgrim farmer or a nightgown-clad ghost howling brazenly onstage.” - VICE

Also appearing, local indie rock band Dog Name and ophelia sabine

Hailing from Ngunnawal/Ngambri country (Canberra), ophelia sabine is an ethereal folk fantasy. She explores the in-between, conversations that are left unsaid and all of the muck left over from love. Stemming from dream-pop and Lofi aesthetics, she draws her listener back to their own presence as motifs. Ophelia is currently working on her debut EP ‘dove’ named after her late partner.

T’was a dark and stormy night
No bus or tram in sight
But still they came, young and old
Ninety strong, so I am told
They sang and stomped and clapped away
And drove the bad weather away!

Final Residency Gig, with Special Guest: James Fahy
Sunday 28th June, 5-7pm
$25/20, httwww.smithsalternative.com/events/hashemoto-friends-97369

Hashemoto, one of Canberra’s most enigmatic and best loved bands, famed for dragging a piano to many an inconvenient location – mountaintops, back yards, parks... carparks – for acoustic gigs, have invited their friend James Fahy to join them at the last of their four monthly residencies.

James Fahy is a Melbourne-based but Canberran at heart musician, interviewer, and wikipediste. He is a superb singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist - a total triple threat. He has contributed to many interesting musical projects, including the art-rock sounds Hi New Low, filling in for Fun Machine, and following Joe Oppenheimer on hours-long pop improvisations. He's played festivals and venues up and down the East Coast, and busked countless street corners.
