**LIVE** Sunday 25 October, 7pm

Australian-born, New York-based duo Olivia Chindamo and Matthew Sheens launch their second album, Putting It Together. Olivia Chindamo’s unique voice brings integrity, honesty and musicianship to her stories and melodies. She has performed at The Kennedy Center and Dizzy’s Club, and toured with renowned conductor Alondra de la Parra. Matthew Sheens is a genre-defying pianist/composer, described as “stoked full of creative ideas and limitless technique… totally innovative and luminous”. Together, they draw on years immersed in New York’s jazz scene to combine Great American Songbook gems, reworked classics and original compositions.

Hypnotised by Steve Reich, with Ensemble Offspring presenting some outstanding tight rhythms and grooves. Starting the evening with Claire Edwardes and Niki Johnson performing Reich’s Clapping Music. With overlapping beats and polyrhythms but all perfectly timed. With then guest performer Gabi Sultana playing Piano Counterpoint, a virtuosic performance capturing the sparkle and intensity of the piece. Then the ensemble moved into Quartet for two vibraphones and two pianos and finishing with Radio Rewrite. A night of non-stop Reich to celebrate his 90th birthday!

Plus we were thrilled to have an in-depth and engaging conversation with Gabi Sultana and The Street’s Caroline Stacey pre-show about her globe-trotting career and pushing musical boundaries.

“We’re trying to access a simpler way – both ancient and contemporary – of delivering song, one that sidesteps assumptions and embraces music lovers of all kinds.” Fred Thomas

Step into a modern Schubertiade and explore one of the subtlest songwriters in the Western classical music canon. A musical atmosphere where the nuances, and the virtuosities of sound and stillness become earth-shattering. Enjoy beloved Schubert favourites such as Death and the Maiden alongside lesser-known jewels.
