aurant) has remained faithful to its Polish roots and multicultural ideals. Sure there have been changes – perhaps the biggest was ditching poker machines – a move welcomed by many members and restaurant customers. The ‘Polo’ version of the restaurant was born out of the fire that destroyed the Club’s kitchen in 2013. In rebuilding, every effort was made to retain the features originally designed by renowned architect Enrico Taglietti. Enjoy dining in the Bar, Chopin Room, or Library – each with its individual feel and style. Treat yourself to pierogi (meat, cabbage & mushroom, cheese & potato dumplings), a delicious cabbage roll, or a hearty serve of hunter’ stew (Poland’s national dish). Pączki (a jam-filled Polish doughnut pronounced Ponchki) satisfies those with a sweet tooth. The bar has the best selection of eastern and central European beers and ales, including Poland’s famous Żywiec pale lager. The range of vodka is amazing (try Zubrowka with apple juice), and the wine list isn’t bad either.
