Meet Linda Johnson, our next featured artist!

Linda is a local artist who has been painting around Cairns for years — and Prawn Star had been on her painting bucket list for quite a while.

So last Thursday, she finally came down, set up her easel on the boardwalk and spent the afternoon capturing our boats on canvas. 🎨

We absolutely loved having her with us — and seeing Prawn Star through Linda’s eyes.

And after all that painting, Linda stayed on for dinner too. We can’t blame her! 😉🦐

Linda also sells her paintings and beautiful postcards at Rusty’s Markets, so if you’re there, go and say hello and check out her work. ❤️

Thanks for finally putting Prawn Star on your canvas, Linda!

And the best part?
We didn’t get here by ourselves.

It’s thanks to every single person who stopped by, enjoyed some seafood, had a drink, watched the sunset, danced on the boats… and most importantly, left us a review. ❤️

David came for Father’s Day… and accidentally got promoted to bartender. 🍻⭐️

He settled in behind the bar, poured himself into the role, and looked far too comfortable doing it. 😂

We think he’s a natural — although we’re not sure he’s quite ready for the “no working during drinking hours” rule. 🦐🍻

We’re starting a new series celebrating the people who see Prawn Star a little differently — as a source of inspiration, a Cairns icon, or simply a place worth capturing.

And you don’t have to be a professional artist to be part of it.

Whether you draw, paint, take photos, create digital art, sketch, sculpt — or have your own unique way of capturing Prawn Star — we want to see it!

Our first feature is Cameron Hamilton, a Cairns local for 57 years.

Cameron creates incredibly detailed ink drawings of local icons, carefully drawn to scale, with one colour chosen to stand out.

For Prawn Star, it was our blue rub rails. 💙

His art also has a beautiful personal story. For 18 years, Cameron’s drawings helped his son, who has severe dyslexia, prepare for school presentations — turning his topics into illustrations that helped him communicate with confidence.

We love that Prawn Star has become one of the Cairns icons captured through Cameron’s eyes.

Now we want to see Prawn Star through yours.
