VIETNAM VETERANSโ DAY | 18 AUGUST
Today, on Vietnam Veteransโ Day, we pause to remember and honour the Australians who served during the Vietnam War, and to recognise the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families.
Here at the Cairns RSL Club, we are especially proud to recognise two of our Club Directors, Peter Sibree and Peter Blackburn, who both served in Vietnam.
๐๏ธ Peter Sibree
As part of an incredible 40-year military career, Peter completed two operational tours of Vietnam โ serving with 1 RAR in 1965/66 and 8 RAR in 1969/70.
๐๏ธ Peter Blackburn
Peter served as a National Serviceman from 1968โ1970, including an 11-month tour of Vietnam, where he was posted to 17th Construction Squadron โ RAEME.
Their stories are part of a much larger story shared by the thousands of Australians who served in Vietnam, those who returned home, those whose lives were forever changed by their service, and those who never returned.
Today, we say a heartfelt thank you to Peter and Peter, to all Vietnam veterans, and to the families who supported them.
We remember their service, their courage and their sacrifice.
