Bells Milk Bar is looking for a reliable, friendly team member to join our much-loved Broken Hill institution.

This is more than just a job — it’s a chance to be part of a place filled with history, community, and a little bit of old-fashioned magic.

We’re looking for someone who:
• Is reliable and punctual (essential)
• Enjoys working with people
• Stays calm during busy periods
• Takes pride in their work
• Works well as part of a small team
• Has weekday and weekend availability

Hospitality or customer service experience is preferred, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.

You’ll be helping with:
• Customer service
• Milkshakes, drinks and light food
• General cleaning and organisation
• Keeping Bells running smoothly

Bells has been serving Broken Hill for generations — we’re looking for someone who’d love to be part of that story.

Ordinarily we close on Public Holidays but we’ve had so many people reaching out to say they’ll be in town and really want to drop by. This year we’re going to trial opening on Easter Saturday and see how that goes. There will be limited staff and a couple of volunteers but we’ll do the best we can. Kylie ❤️

Whether you’re starving or just a little peckish, we have you covered. Fancy a taste of Broken Hill, try our Chicken and Cheeseslaw toastie. From small eats like raisin toast, or mountains of loaded chips - there’s something here to hit the spot ❤️

Extreme heat warnings are in place for the next eight days. We will have the AC on and the music turned down low. There are books to read, games for the family to play, and free bottled water on ice. If you need to escape the heat, we will be open from 10-5 all days except the public holiday. Please stay safe ❤️

Our opening hours are changing. Now that the silly season has passed, it is starting to get much quieter.
Bells will now be open from 10AM-5PM (7 Days)
This may change as needed. We will keep you posted.
Due to unexpected circumstances, WE WILL BE CLOSING AT 3PM TODAY.
Sorry for any disappointment this causes.

I’ve put some empty ice cream tubs behind Bells in Patton Lane if any body would like them.

Grab a cuppa- it’s going to be a long one. The universe keeps throwing the challenges at us. The last two weeks have been uncharacteristically busy. In fact, the busiest in the last year. The entire time we were working with minimal staff. Numbers were already low because of the holidays. So every time someone called in sick or unavailable, the same poor buggers put their hands up to help. To those few, I am grateful beyond words. You know who you are ❤️
To the beautiful family who kept smiling, the wonderful lady who asked me if she could bring me anything, to the little groover who danced like everyone was watching, and the little girl who said it was ok not to have thickshakes, she didn’t want one anyway, to every dog that gave me a cuddle… and of course our amazing regulars who keep coming back even when we have crazy days - people like you get us through the chaos.
This morning when the kitchen fridge gave up in the heat, I was set to lock up and leave. Thank goodness for Jo, Layla and Tom who just kept going. You’re bloody legends!
With the fridge still out of action and another staff member sick, I think the universe is trying to say take it easy. Tomorrow, Tom and I are going old school and just doing drinks. I think it’s better than closing altogether. I hope you understand. We’ll see you for a milkshake ❤️
